I do. I realize that a lot of people are like myself and don't actually know how to type so they are looking at the keyboard instead of the screen. I do look up every couple of words or so to check what I have written and sometimes I miss something, but some people seem to just not care about either punctuation or spelling. In fact, some people use one letter or a number instead of a word which is fine occasionally. However, if they do it repeatedly it kinda makes you wonder if they know how to spell. Also, I read profiles from people who claim to have Master's degrees who mispell every other word.

I watch spelling and punctuation in almost all things I do because that was one of my favorite courses in school. But, I have discovered that good spelling and punctuation may have little to do with intellect.

Typos are one thing - repeatedly making grammatical and/or spelling mistakes shows the educational background of a person - intelligence is another matter entirely. A person can be extremely intelligent and have limited educational skills. I do notice spelling and punctuation mistakes and consider that within the overall context of what a person has posted.

I believe Albert Einstein is synonymous with genius. If you will take time to check this out you will find he very poor hand writing and very bad spelling. So I do not feel this is a very good ruler to judge someone with. Most of you girls ash for honesty when you are really after perfection.Gold or fools gold you answer the question.

Yes, I try to make sure I spell things correctly and for the most part have good grammar and punctuation.
However, this is an online message board and I don't expect anyone to be perfect. We aren't being graded on our posts or emails. We aren't making a presentation in a business environment. It's a casual, getting to know each other, relax and enjoy yourself kind of thing.
I believe in multiple intelligences. I have known people that cannot spell and/or have horrible grammar, yet have extremely high IQs and are experts in fields that most people couldn't even begin to understand. I have also known people that have near perfect grammar and spelling, yet don't know much else.
After all that, yes, if it's extreme, I wonder if english is their first language and try my best to understand them if it's not. Some of the abbreviations and ebonics get to be too much and I just don't read those posts or emails.

By the way this is how intellect is spelled. I am very avid about criticing anyones spelling and grammar and the only reason I do that is because I have worked within the business world for so many years that its just second nature for me to make sure everything is correct. If you have to present something to a boss or its going to be seen in public you want the spelling and grammar to be correct because that is "putting your best face forward". When I misspell on here, its usually because I am typing to fast. Although that does not mean a person is smart, stupid, crude or not intellectual it simply gives you an insight into their personality. Are they ambitious enough to write a good profile. It does say something about how they present themselves to others.

I changed my mind on some of what I just said. If you can't spell anything correctly that does say something about your educational background. Even if you finished high school you should be able to spell and put a simple sentence together that makes sense. If I have taken the time to go back to college to better myself I don't want somebody who doesn't want to take the time to better themselves. Education is important and it shows in yor professional life. Does that make sense????

I don't know if you were actually talking to me or calling someone else darlin LOL.
If you did mean me, when I spoke of abbreviations, I mean when people talk like they are texting on a phone. Just about every word is abbreviated or even use numbers and it's hard to try to read LOL.
