I'm not so sure about Chuck these days. The way I see it is he was 'great' only because he was fighting nothing but grapplers and wrestlers. Put him up against a striker and he becomes rather ordinary. Don't get me wrong, I love watching Chuck fight, it's just I am feeling like he might have been overrated. Am I wrong?

What should he do now? 2 losses in a row and getting older. Personally I feel like he doesn't train hard enough to compete at the top level of the UFC. Against a grappler his natural talents allow him to dominate. But against a striker it's a different story. He could have beat Jardine if he would have stepped it up in the last round. But no doubt he didn't have the energy for it. He is not used to wars like that.

Can he come back stronger? Does he have the hunger anymore? It probably gets a lot harder to get up for a fight when you know your best days are behind you. The competition is only going to get tougher, and he is only going to get older.

I think it might be time for him to move on. Training does seem to be an issue that has come up latley. He says he hasnt changed his routine. A little to much party = not as focused as he needs to be. Lots of fighters up and coming that have trained in various skills makes it alot harder for the one dimensional fighters.

The reality show with the retards from Tapout, kind of showed him slipping into a party life style with the money he has made, and it looks like he is interested in making movies. I think it is hard for some one to train as hard as they need to with those distractions. Yes, I think he might have been over rated as well. The last fight with Randy C. was sort of a fluke. Randy slipped, and Chuck was able to capitalize on it with a quick punch. He is not so lucky when fighting strikers who are better at slipping punches and not looking to take him down or grapple. It seems against these grapplers he is able to fade back and counter punch. This allows him to 'catch' them as they come in. Against Rampage, he tried the same technique, but, when Rampage challenged him to fight, it was all over. Chuck stepped up swung, and this time Rampage was the one countering, and caught him coming in. I didn't see the Jardine fight, at 40 bucks a pop it is getting a little expensive.

Yep, everything 9th said. And yea Dustin, it sounds almost gay but that eye of the tiger crap plays an awful lot into it. He's got a big bang and he's great at slipping it in there but he has to want it bad. It's all about what he wants now.

It is time for Chuck to gracefully retire. He was best in his time, but now needs to let go and learn to be a trainer.

Chucks the man!! You can say there are other fighters who are well rounded and possibly better fighters. Thats one thing, but to say he should retire is absurd!! His career is far from over and there is a great fight with him coming up in Dec. 07! The truth about chuck is that he is one of the greatest UFC Champions of all time! He has a style that no one else even tries to duplicate. Who else has the knockouts against some of best in the sport? He lost 2 fights and all you b*tches wanna write him off! Do you even know how many fights he won before the first loss?? Do you even know about his Pride fights? Thats whats wrong with the sport today.. The fans who love you before a fight and then turn there back on you as soon as you lose a fight! No matter how long he held the belt, who he as beat in the octagon - You wanna sit on the couch and talk that shit! I guess the old saying "Your only as good as your last fight" is true because of fans like you! Regardless if he has the belt he deserves the utmost RESPECT which is more than I say about the rest of you!

All the fights he had on the way up don't mean crap now. He's weeded through all the contenders right to the tippy top of the food chain. The competition is absolute top notch and he's done great up there. If he wants to stay he'll have to be prepared to bounce around on the top. once your at that level, anyone can take out anyone because they're all bad ass. I'm not saying he can't hang, just saying he still has to want it, more than ever now.

JMO...I think he needs to step it up as all the UFC fighters need to there are more technical fighters on the WEC the VS. channel...I have trained a few MMA fighters and am surprised that the only techniques that you find on the UFC are "mainly" rear naked, arm bar, ground and pound, triangle....not many knee bars, Kimora and other techniques...disapointed they dont train more variety...again JMO

The problem is everyone is training to hit him in the same button as Rampage did....
Chuck needs to regroup and train differently since everyone knows where his button is to put him down.

i thought thesame thing to bout only doing well against grapplers n wrestlers. but i forgot that he tko'd vernon tiger white who is a great striker. he also knocked out kevin randleman who clipped cro cop (tko)which is 1 of the top fighters in the world. he also dropped vitor belfort who is a top notch striker. but i do agree with some of your comments. i think win lose or draw against vanderlai silva should give a good idea for wut chuk's future could be.
