Suppose nothing at all happens on 12-21-12.Then no harm,no foul. Now suppose these ancient peoples were actually trying to send a warning down through time to tell us of bad times ahead. Then you either prepare or you die.Of course you may die anyway, but if you don't then that's when it's going to get tough. If you've never lived without electricity, running water, indoor plumbing or grocery stores then you are in for a very rude awakening.Laugh at it all you want folks but at least prepare yourself for some hard times.Starving people will do anything to eat.Anything! They will even eat their neighbors if it gets bad enough.Want to take the chance that I am wrong?Go ahead. If this doesn't happen then I will have some things that I'm going to use anyway.Read up on this people.Do you lock your doors at night or your car at the mall?SAME PRINCIPLE.Are you going to fiddle while Rome burns?

So these two Mayan mathematicians are sitting around a great batch of brew 1400 BC (or so) and they figured out how the calender should work to keep everything running smooth.
They started Chiseling the dates and kept at it until they reached 2012.............
Don't you think they would have appreciated someone else having enough gumption to write for a while..
Or did they say that the people would be so lazy that they wouldn't continue the calender??

I personally don't beleive it, but won't call it a crock either, it could happen. I'm not going to make preparations in the event that it does cause I don't beleive that you can put away enough 'beans, bullets, and Bibles' to get you through much of anything. So I'll place my life in the hands of God if it does.

Well I watched two stars burn out and fall from the sky the other night I guess the lights could go out here just as well.... will not spend one second preparing for this. It's just my way to try not to worry about things until I have to, that's when I seem to do the best work mentally and physically anyway. I'm not going to eat any neighbors but I will shoot some lunch for us. I clicked other, for I'll wing it.

First of all, the world will never end. I believe Jesus will be coming back to set up his kingdom on this earth and all the wicked and evil doers will be judged and sent to Hell.
I do believe that one day very soon that we will stand before God to be judged for how we have lived in this life. No one is perfect and everyone has made mistakes but we must turn from our sins before it is too late or we will be eternally lost in Hell. I know many people do not believe in God and try to make fun of people that do but this is no laughing matter. One thing for sure and that is time will tell the story. It is your choice, will it be Heaven or Hell?
Peace to all

I vote no-what a crock.
We've seen it predicted from so many times and angles that it's getting to be ridiculous.
They thought that the world was going to end a thousand years ago and hoards of people went crazy giving away their personal belongings and even grand estates. Running to the church to repent their sins, praying, crying and much gnashing of teeth and tearing of hair. And what happened? Not a dang thing.
So the ecumenical counsel decided to reconsider the translations of the scriptures ans said "Oops" wrong millennium. In 2000 it all started again and what happened? Again not a dang thing. (not to mention among many others the Jehovah Witness fouxpah' in the 1950s where all the church leaders hid in basements to wait out the apocalypse that didn't happen.
So many refer to Nostradamus, and his obscure predictions, that can be read and construed to fit almost any situation. Now they're running out of dooms day prophets and turning to Incas, Mayans, and Aztecs. What next: Eskimos?

I think many countries around the world are in an ascendancy and they have never had it so good. They are very excited about the future and the part that they will be able to play in it. They are embracing the new, cleaner technologies and moving forwards with them... we are more in decline... an aging society... clinging to old beliefs and ways of doing things. Maybe it is going to be like the fall of Rome. We are stretching ourselves thin, militarily. We will always have some of the most creative, resourceful people - but, many are vacating the premises as life is more exciting and vibrant and fresh elsewhere in the world - entire corporations are leaving, too. Maybe we will not go down without a fight - blow everyone up and take our ball and go home. Maybe it will be in 2012...

Man was given free will and a brain that was much more functional than the other animals. Now instead of using that brain to think their way out of problems like the one that was posed in this blog most people just throw up their hands and say that they put it in the hands of God.Suppose God expects you to use the gifts that he gave you and do something about it yourself.I know that we are God's children but children have to grow up eventually. How long do you expect daddy to tie your shoes before you have to start doing it yourself?Nothing happens on 12-21-09.Wonderful.Now suppose that God passed down information through these ancient poeples to warn us of some natural disaster than recurs every few thousand years. Not the end of the world but something that will disrupt our way of life for years to come.If God wants to take you right away he will and he doesn't need your help.So use that big brain and that free will that you have to at least try to sustain yourself and your family and when you finally do meet God you can proudly say that because of the wonderful gifts that you were blessed with you were able to survive and carry on the great work that you were born to do.Inaction doesn't make you a martyr,it only makes you dead.Be the intelligent beings that you were created to be.

I do not like these surveys the answers are usually way off for any kind of balanced
input, so you left me no choice but to check other.
It is not just the Mayan calendar, the supercomputer also does not compute past that same date, as another poster put it, check it out. Seers have been predicting this event for
centuries, Jesus even told us to be prepared, to read the signs of the times, all true believers will see the signs of the times, BUT no man will know the exact hour, that not even the Son of God knew the exact hour.
The Scripture also speaks of natural disasters that will be held back by the hand of God for the sake of the Believers. The state of Idaho is one giant caldera of the super vulcano that takes up a big section of the western part of the country. You can even see it from space, in National Geographic I read an article about it and how the elevation of
that area has risen over 100" since the national survey ordered in the 1930s, and that was about 10 years ago that I read about it. It is way past time for it to go off.
I was a big skeptic until I kept hearing more and more about it, so I start checking in to it. It is also time for the Poles to change polarity, there are magnetic currents on the Earth and have been shifting for some time now, that is why true north and the north pole are no longer the same. It's God's Planet He can do as He pleases with it.
He has given us a plan of protection and the steps to being saved, if you choose not to embrace it, you have a free will to do so or not.

well i saw the preview of the movie then found this on the net
Mayan Calendar: The ancient Mayan calendar states that the world will end in December 21, 2012. The Mayan civilization flourished in Central America from the 6 A.D. to 9 A.D. They were obsessed with time-keeping, and in fact, their calender were so incredibly precise that its interlocking time scales of lunar, solar, and planetary cycles could accurately predict solar/lunar eclipses thousands of years into the future. This accurate calendar however mysteriously ends on December 21, 2012!
It states that on December 21, 2012, the sun rises on the dark rift of the center of the milky way which is referred to as a black hole. In the last five years, the western astronomers have in fact discovered that there is in fact an enormous black hole at the center of our milky way galaxy. The contemporary astronomers concur with the Mayans. On 21st of December, 2012, the Earth will be in exact alignment with the Sun and the center of our milky way galaxy, a galactic event which takes place only once every 25,800 years! No one knows what effect this extraordinary alignment will have on our planet, but the Mayans believe it would be terrible!

I think every 20 years or so, the Nostradamus Fan Club re-issue all of Nostradamus' doom and gloom predictions. I think the first time I saw a show about him predicting the world would end was in 1983 - and the world was gonna end in 1989. Well as we all know, 1989 came and went without the world ending....now their showing essentially the same show again and saying its now 2012....
