guess what guys and gals? My good friend who looks after me got a certifide letter to his address which I do not live there from the landlady. The same letter that was left in here when I got home last week stating that the property will be selling . No professional letter head. Noone is around and I think its the old lady next house. How in the hell did a certifide letter end up at my friends address? Someone must have copied his license plate down and found his address. Man oh man is this woman digging her grave.Anyway I hope its more ammunition. Did I spell that right? Still keeping my mouth shut and going to legal aid on tuesday. Sorry to complain but, this is insane and you people have helped me so much . any replies?

I am not familiar with the details of the case and can't comment beyond the following:

In the event that the correspondence in question contains any information that is anyway fraudulent, a federal offence may have been committed. The evidence may be referred to the area Postal Inspector.

This may be annoying to you, but what happened was that your friend received a notice from the post office saying that there is a certified letter for you. And then he or she has to sign for it; but they couldn't sign for you, could they now? So the bottom line, your friend didn't actually receive this letter. Again, this could be a mistake; your landlady just happened to send it to the wrong address. I don't see a crime in that.
You can start depositing your rental checks with the city. This has worked for me.

Hi, I am a bit confused about the part in *depositing your rental checks with the city*. HOw does that work and why would the city get involved? Just curious.

Perhaps its because your friend looks after you and the landlady make sure to send him the letter as well.

If thats the case I would think she didnt do wrong here cause she knows how he looks after you

makes logical sense to me

Well, what happened with me, was slightly different, my landlord wouldn't do the repairs that they should have done. This lasted a few yrs. Finally, I faxed them a letter... it worked like a clockwork... I couldn't believe it. In it, I first said that of course I am current with my rent, and then if you don't fix this and that, my next rent goes to the city. Meaning you can deposit your rent checks with the city (I am not sure exactly how it works, but there IS a way), up until your landlord does what he/she was supposed to do to begin with. In my case, I had everything fixed, painted, etc., plus a new refrigerator. It took them 3 days to do what they couldn't get done in about 3 yrs.

Oh and I sent this letter on about 25th of the month, to give them time to fix things, and before the next rent was due on the 1st of the next month. Timing matters.

Had someone give me the same advice once. Fortunately never had to use it. You can go to your city or county court. Tell them of what repairs, etc. Show pictures to prove or whatever the case is. They set up an escrow account. You pay your rent to the court on time as always. They place your rent into that escrow account. The landlord cannot collect the money until all repairs are done.
I am not sure what office, although common sense tells me it would be the treasurers or auditors office.
I do not think that it would apply in this case though.

If the Landlord/ Landlady has entered the premises while no one was home, without advanced notice of coming, she has violated the law. The only way the premises can be entered without prior permission of the tenant is an emergency (water line break, or something of that nature.
My advice to you, luvbuckets- Look up Landlord/ tenant laws for your state online. I think they all have pretty much the same rules and regulations. But check it out. Read it closely, print it out, underline what she has violated and take it with you to legal aide.
Good memory aid for you, also shows them that you are prepared and know your rights.

I hope it works out for her, somehow. Now, regarding posting rent payments with the city, you don't have to go to court, or at least not where I live; you don't need to make photos either. At the time I lived in an apartment building. I have no idea if the whole thing would work (depositing rent with the city), but apparently it worked in my case. Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to bluff. JMO.
