I rupured my achilies tendon this past Saturday and i need surgury. I take pain pills but they are not helping this pain i'm experienceing. I asked the Dr. if i could be admitted to the hospital so i could get better pain meds. This is not serious enough to be admitted.
I have to wait now until i get another MRI and see the Dr. again on Thursday, then he'll schedule surgury. Which will probably be next week i'm sure, so i just have to suffer until then...which i think is totally ridiculous.
I just wanted to vent because i just feel miserable right now...lol

Sorry Utahgal, it's your heel cord. I was already having problems and was going to have surgury anyway, i needed to have a heel cord lengthening before i completely ruptured it Saturday. I was in pain before but i could tolerate it, now i can't put any weight on my foot or move the ankle. I have a prosthetic on my other leg so walking is out of the question. I'm getting aroungd in my wheelchair.

y do people always feel the need to say sorry ? ive been criple sence 21 and everytime i go somewhere someone is curios about whats wrong with me and to be polite i usual tell the truth but after that everyone of them say im sorry. im so tired of hearing that espicaly when most dont meen it thay just dont know what else to say just once i would like to hear the truth about what there thinking after the spue i give them i think most of it would be something like (better u than me man, sucks to be u, or ur problem not mine) or any number of things along thouse lines

Damn cape, that has to hurt like crazy. I've often wondered what I'd do if I injured my good leg and had to rely on my prosthetic leg to get around and support all my weight. Now that you've mentioned it, I can see where it would be nearly impossible or at least so difficult to do that it wouldn't be worth it.
I hope you can get in for your surgery as quickly as possible. We one legged guys have to stick together.

Joe, it's just words or expressions people need to do in order to be humble and understanding. You're right......we could get away with the word *I'm sorry*....but it won't stop because people are people. Few people stated that they hated the word *disabled* but it's just word. I've learned LONG time ago not to be bothered by another's actions verbally because I have better things to do.
Just a note, Joe........Regardless to what people say....I turn that around positively funny so THEY can relax a bit......and, they'll ask questions. They would learn something new from me about anything they inquire.
So, Joe.......continue with your great posts.........and have a great day!

Oh, believe me, I KNOW!!! When I first got my service dog......same ol' record, *Is the dog a service dog?* I would point out to her harness and say yes, she is. Then, they'll look at me quizzly and asked........*but, you're not blind*. That's when I go into an education of their life about visual impairments. lol. So, I do know.......and it's VERY tiring after couple of years but now into 8th years....I'm so used to it as if they are asking if I have a valid id to enter the building *being over 21, I mean*.
We can always carry a sign with us to prevent people from *irking* us........but then what fun I'll miss by not educating them until they are ready to run!!! lol

This is what upsets me, where i'm living the bathroom is not accessable so i have to crawl into it. I'm kind of use to the crawling thing anyway as i had to do it alot in the past..lol. My prosthetic leg is taking a beating and i'm stubborn about the wheelchair. It is some terrible pain..it's a burning pain but i can put some weight on it as the tendon is already ruptured. My big thing is i can't even go into the hospital to get some pain releif because it not serious enough... Its not like i'm not going to have surgury.... I'm going into the rehab center after my surgury so i can heal up a little bit before i go home.
GREY, we have a connection because we are amputee's, we can relate.
I would like to say "THANK YOU" to all for your kind words

<< slaps the back of her hand...bad bayou...bad...don't say you're sorry..just tell them their life sucks....LOL>> Joe I truly am sorry when someone is in pain. I can't change their circumstances or fix what is causing their pain but I can sympathize with them. Hence the "I'm sorry"...anyway...here's a beer for ya..enjoy

Cape,.....OUCH, that has to hurt, a lot. I remember a time when I was out shopping with my Mom and my sister. Mom was in the wheelchair and my sister was pushing her, I was walking beside and a little ahead of them. My sister hit the back of my heel with the foot rest, I saw stars. Not ten minutes later, SHE DID IT AGAIN, this time I cried from the pain. I love my sister a lot but at that moment I wanted to slug her (the second time). I didn't but h*ll that hurt. So, even though my pain was temporary, I can sympathize with you.
Would it help to wrap it in a tensure bandage? Just to support it until you get into surgery.

I know what your going through and it never hurts to vent a little. All you can do is go to the ER and complain your in severe pain. The hospital here is based on the fact that no patient is left in pain.I went in with back pain(herniated disks) which were in full drive.By the time I was done in the ER I was hopped up enough to get x-rays and sleep through the night.(I did complain enough to get admitted)same rules apply for back pain and admittance here.Never be afraid to moan in pain or let them know how bad it is.Your the one who has to endure it.

I know that hurts, those leg rests are not forgiving..lol. I have wraped it and been putting ice on also. I've been thru worse but this is just frustrating. Thanks for the laugh.
