This is from the link Wine shared with us yesterday.
What if the word "work" was changed to "dance-with- life," And instead of it being viewed as an alternative to fishing or a way of "paying your dues," it was seen as a chance to meet a parade of new friends, discover your own untested potentials and unpolished gifts, and open avenues for abundance to come pouring into your life?
The Universe
What do you feel about your work? is it or can it be a dance with life?

Well, Since I don't work---only at home--I do all of my own inside and outside work--
I love working in my yard and my many flowers--so not too sure what you mean
I guess this could be a dance--woo--hooo--lotsafun

Absolutely. I help people, that is what I have always done,
and am happiest doing, whether paid work, volunteer, or
socially.

Life is a dance. When I was working, it was a part of the dance. Everything I do, volunteering, spending time with family and friends, dating, loving, being. It's all a part of the dance. Like Garth said:
Looking back, on the memories of;
The dance we shared,
Neath the stars above.......
Even the not so good parts:
I'm glad I didn't know;
How it all would end
The way it all would go;
Our lives are better left to chance;
I could have missed the pain,
But I'd 've had to miss the dance.

I think most of my life, I have danced to the tune of others I loved.
Now, I find that I have my own dance, I dance alone when need be, but would love the partner than we could hear the same music.

Yeah, my last job was like doing "The Frug" in one spot for ten hours straight... it was a beautiful interaction with life and living...

I know I am only a cashier, BUT this is the first job, I really like going to work to.
Everyone there is so friendly and we are like a big family.
It's a small private owned grocery store, but all my fellow employees and customers are all such great people!
I would like to stay home.
But, if I have to have a job, this is the one!

Sweetness: 1. it is often the people we work with that make the job worthwhile, or why we hate it.
2. There is no such as "only a...". If someone does their job to the best of their ability, with integrity,
and honesty, it matters not a hoot what it is - it is a nobel and proud attribute to that person's character.

Thank you for posting your thoughts here and for sharing the ways you are a light in your world.
I build homes, repair homes and I paint the heavens on bedroom ceilings. I enjoy what I do and I enjoy it the most when I remember a story by Marianne Williamson. She said when she was a c*cktail waitress people would ask here what she was doing in a place like that? Her mental response was "oh, you think this is a bar, I see it as my church, a place people gather to get away from their world and a place where I can give love, care and a word of encouragement that might help light up their world.
My job gives me an opportunity to be unobtrusively in peoples lives and offer a little light into their world.
Be the light the world needs.

What do you feel about your work? is it or can it be a dance with life?
Thanks for an interesting thread.
I've always loved my work... never
thought of it as a dance, but surely
it was and even now is (as a volunteer
during retirement)...
"a chance to meet a parade of new
friends, discover [my] own untested
potentials and unpolished gifts,
and open avenues for abundance
to come pouring into [my] life"
In a two income family raising
children and as a single parent, I've
worked two jobs at the same time for
many years.
Certainly always needed the paycheck,
but never really thought about the
money! Can't explain that feeling
except that I felt very blessed to be
paid for exercising my God given potential
and feeling like I was serving rather
than working.

"All my life I have danced to the tune of another,"
I find that a sad statement now that my dance is nearly ended. But I think the most romantic and rewarding dance was working with gravely ill persons in Nursing Homes and Hospital Hospice. A kind person can be such a gift to family of their loved one dying..

My "dance with life" places me in the path of many different types of people, and though I most likely will never know, I pray each morning that if I influence anyone throughout my day, may it be a positive and uplifting influence that will brighten their day! I make my words kind and my empathy genuine and focus on the "dance" at hand. And I leave the hard stuff for God to take care of.

I do a lecture ... its about something that really happened to me about 20 years ago. Being a new administrator in an Alzheimers facility, I was still getting to know the residents and staff. There was a resident, a kindly gentleman, with one arm and walked with a cane. There was a not-so-very-good senior band playing in the lobby that afternoon. This gentleman walked pass my office door and paused. He smiled at me and asked me to dance. I got up from my desk, walked out into the hallway and we waltzed down the hallway into the lobby. Residents, visitors and staff watched us intently. When the music was done, every applauded. He leaned forward, smiled and kissed my hand. I curtsied and thanked him for the wonderful dance. I told all my staff the following payday meeting, that we should all live life like that, embrace the quality of the moment and "dance in the hallway". The company I worked for took on that motto for their buildings nationwide and the story became a keystone in their culture. To this day ... I choose to dance in the hallway.
