Sorry to hear of your loss.... I had a friend whos step son... committed suicide last year after a break up with his girl... upon comming home from the service... I was confused as a teen... can't say... the notion never crossed my mind... Some people think you know when someone is suicidal... not so.... It's their own personal torment... something within... so painful.... so trying... so confusing... that you are unable to cope.. and all you wish for is a way out...
Some say suicide is a sin... but to whom.... The person taking leave from the worlds madness... he's at rest darlin... It may be hard for you to understand.... just don't follow... life is great... it get's hard at times... but it makes us all the stronger and wiser...
Take care of yourself young lady..... and my your father rest in peace..... You and your family grieved long enough... I hope you and yours find a happy medium....

You are not alone. My Dad did in 2005 and 6 weeks later, my Mom died. But my sister & I found some comfort through a Yahoo group called Survivors of Suicide. They have meetings once a week (in St. Louis) and there are chapters in other cities. You are more than welcome to e-mail me if you'd like to, because I know the pain. If you can find a S.O.S. group or something similar, I urge you to go to a meeting, because EVERYONE there can understand the devastation you feel like no one else can. Jerri

Thank-you for sharing your story. It takes courage to post such a topic.
My condolences to both you & your family. Suicide is a familiar word/prognosis to me. The description of loosing a loved one or close friend can sometimes be unbearable. With no forewarning or preparation….

Every human emotion goes through your body instantaneously. Some’s reaction ~ psychologically in shock for the first few seconds then anger, disbelief, sorrow etc… Other's may take charge of the situation and have no time to release these emotions. Some would turn that energy & focus on athletics, careers or hobbies.

We never get over losing someone we’ve lost. We go on yes, but they will always be in our thoughts.
Holidays, birthdays, events, songs, scents etc… It only proves that we are still alive.

I pray that you have a support group of your own. Relatives, friends or co-workers. It’s not unusual or unnatural to have unfamiliar emotions. Stay strong, healthy & always know that your father loves you.

I think that we do need this group. I had a cousin committ suicide in 2001 (we were kinda close too) and I was up all night praying for him not to do it! God kept me up, and I don't think you ever do get over having that happen to you.

Has anyone ever thought about commiting suicide? What do you think about the person that does commit suicide. Do you think it was a selfish act? Or, do you feel like you could have understood them if only they would have talked to you? Every once in a while I think about suicide, but I would never go through with it because believe it or not, I did try once, but was unsuccessful. I was in the hospital for 3 days. Now, I know God did not want me to die so I live each day for my son.

I worked Suicide Prevention for a year and the best things I learned were:

1. Most if not all suicides talk about it before they do it. Those of you that are talking about it on this thread are more at risk than those that are not talking about it.

2. It is a mood, and if you can keep them on the phone and talking, get them to eat something and change their chemistry then the mood will pass.

3. Time heals all wounds.

4. These people need to work on their health and change the chemistry that is going to their brains.

5. They need someone that will LISTEN to and not judge them.

Both of my parents committed suicide, as well as two of my uncles,it's a hard thing to deal with.Survivors of Suicide is a good group, but for me it was not the right place. You have to know that it isn't about you it is about them we all are in charge of our own life's. They are cowards they have no idea what it does to the people that are left. There's a really good book called You can heal your life by Louise Hay that I find very helpful.
Free your self and forgive them, for they no not what they do.I was mad at my Mom for a very long time because after my fathers death she made a promise to me that she would never do it well she broke her promise, it hurt more than I can tell you. It was her life and her choice.
I had no control over what she did.Allow yourself to heal.I sent all of you healing thoughts. And last of all time passing doe's help, you never get over it but it does get better, believe me I know.

I would like to offer my condolences to those that have lost a special person,
to this life changing event.....certainly you have reason to seek help.
There are websites for just this purpose, be it cancer, suicide, or unfortunate accident.

I would like to also offer that this is a DATING site..
we are here to meet new people for a *life change*,
a life encounter of friendship, and hopefully love.

There is a place and a time for everything...
I think most of us on a dating site are here to focus on finding a new
love, and joy including laughter for our new life.

Please accept my no vote, to this suggested conversation.
Let's use DATEHOOK-UP as the name implies...
for dating and making new
choices in life.

Sincerely,
Wine

I think we should have the group....I mean, we have one for every other topic, so why not this one as well. My best friend commited suicide when we were sophmores in HIghschool about 6 years ago and I never got over it....I've actually considered it a few times myself....I hope that this group gets approved.
