Any one ever have any experience with a 09 Cobalt just dead. No power what so ever, even when hooked to another auto with jumper cables. Auto transmission won't come out of Park, key stuck in ignition and wont come out. I first tried jumping it, then checked EVERY fuse in the car, except for the one in the trunk that I can't get open cause no key, no power, I've giggled the shifter at the transmission, thinking it's acting like it's not completely in park... Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

Take the carpet out of the trunk if u can. Then check ur positive and negative cables for tightness then check ur starter and alternator and ur battery that should do the trick. My auto class helped me in my friends car.

brake switch?

the symptoms you described are the same as what i get on hyundais (push-button starts, however)

when you put the key in the ignition, does the theft light flash? i've run into a few cobalt's that the key goes bad and it doesn't communicate with the car (like it's not the right key) and won't start ... also had where the reader deal part of the ignition won't read the key and thus won't let it start ...

afterthought - has your windshield ever been replaced or is it cracked? if you get water intrusion into your smart junction box/fuse box, the box itself will short out, although your fuses all appear ok, and it won't let the vehicle work at all ...

Dead battery, key will not release because the battery is dead.
Only jump start at the battery. If you can open the trunk, spare key? If not release the back seat and open the trunk that way. then you can check the fuse and put a full charge on the battery.

Have you had any other problems with it? A friend of mine has the same type of car. He had probs with the transmission, and it has had to go into the shop a few times for it.

That is sick and they charge you $100 every time. Like my shade tree mechanic. Lol gm it is really hard to find a bad fuse. Shade tree pull them till you find a bad one. Pretty f**king tough job. We will hook it to the computer for $150 lol.

It wasn't my car, but in researching online what might have been the cause, I did run across some info on the transmission. I think there was a recall on that car because of a faulty "TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE ADJUSTMENT CLIP"
