Wow, I thought it was just us guys. That get the scammers looking for money. Guess I look like an easy mark. Maybe that is why no real woman has contacted me yet. Maybe they think I'm a scammer. I'm so glad I got on here. I think we maybe talking about the same guy but he uses different aliases and claims he's from Europe. He has asked me for money too and he likes to write beautiful poetry and letters. Claims he's from Milan, Italy. Ladies....please BEWARE and run like crazy.....all he wants is money from you!!! He's a scammer!!! Be very careful!! Good luck to everyone.

Before I joined DateHookup.dating, I have been scammed with someone with a fake profile on a internet online dating site. He promise the world for a one year. He said he is an U.S army officer serving Iraq and Afghanistan. I thought things were going great until he started to ask me for money. I am fortunate that he didn't get any money from me. He got mad typing online and told me it was over between me and him because I wouldn't give him the money. He is a fake and scammer. I am glad my nightmare is over. I am being more careful than ever, even in this site or every site, too. I am sorry that Clarkerod72, clarkerod 7002 did that , too. That is terrible.I am glad you told your story to us on this forum. I don't feel alone, here. Thank You.

I'm sorry this happened to you too. This man sounds like the one from DH and POF. He's very charming and has a strong European accent but I didn't believe his story for needing first $12,000 then $5,000 for tickets back to US from Ghana and yes, he got mad at me on phone when I refused to send him money. He currently has a profile under jeffreylove989. He may be working with a European scam team. Unfortunately, not everyone on here or other sites is who they say they are. If someone sounds too good to be REAL, they probably are!! Don't give up hope in finding that special guy!!! You will find him!! I wish you the very best of luck and God bless you!!

Met a nice man I thought,but turned out to be nothing but a jerk,he lived 50 miles from me,for the first week we chatted on here and on the phone,we got along so great then after a few months he became very demanding and asked to borrow $40 like a fool I gave it to him,this was around Xmas time last year,well when it was time to pay he gave every excuse that he could think of not to repay I just said ok keep the $ and dont bother to contact me anymore..He kept on sending me messages,had to change my email etc so please be careful on who you meet on here!!

My first 4 contacts were scammers, too beautiful, at first they had no picture, then they got email from me, to send me pictures, They all had same story, their parents were killed in auto accident, and their uncle took them out of the country, and they have no money to gett back, but they love me, love me, love me... bla, bla, bla....

They all have the same pitiful lying stories. My wife died, I'm raising my child, they wants to run a long survey on you, no matter what answers you write to there questions, you will be the perfect one, they love you to death in about a weeks time, all there poems sounds alike.If y'all don't recognize a scammer by now... I feel sorry for you. Oh yeah, this is the big one, I'm an engineer working out the country. I'll be back in the states in 6 mos. and they always wants to chat on the IM instead of staying on site. Most of the time, they don't have a phone number to give you. I've done a lot of research on them. And they pretty much all have the same game. Yes I've met about 5 never on this site though... But there game is all the same. I used to play the game with them,(acting like I was going to send them $) but it got boring because they are just so stupid. So people's if you want to know more about scammers. Goggle internet scammers on dating site. You will be amazed how many woman,actually went bankrupt sending men money, they never met. And couldn't get a dime back, because it wasn't illegal. BEWARE LADIES BEWARE

You said it best. Yes, they start off about wife dying and then trying to make you feel bad because you didn't send any money. I'm not sure whether I can ever trust anyone again on one of these sites. I'm sure there are some good people on here and elsewhere.

Every day, about 45 million spam text messages are sent to North American cellphones. If you don't have a text message plan, you'll pay around 20 cents for each one you receive.
But the real cost comes if you respond to those micro messages about such things as free gift cards, cheap mortages and meds, and urgent "account problems" at your bank.
That's because at least 70 percent of all cellphone text spam is designed to defraud you in some way, according to a study by Cloudmark, a company that makes anti-spam software. In contrast, only about 10 percent of spam arriving by email is sent with that intent.
Spam in text messages may try to guide you to shady websites that will install "malware" on your phone to vacuum up all the personal data stored in it. Or the messages may urge you to dial a phone number where your personal and financial information is solicited. Whatever you provide is either used to steal your identity or sold to third parties who'll send you yet more spam texts.
In 2012, cellphone spam -- often called "smishing" -- has tripled compared with 2011 levels, while email-delivered spam continues to drop, following an 82 percent decrease last year.
Why? For scammers, cellphone text messages are fast, cheap, easy and effective. The thieves use inexpensive, hard-to-track prepaid phones to transmit myriad text come-ons. When word spreads of the spam du jour, the scammers simply toss the phones they're using and buy new ones.
What's more, cellphone users are three times more likely to respond to spam than computer users. "Because you always have your cellphone with you, answering it becomes more of an impulse reaction.", says Cloudmark security researcher Mary Landesman.
Here's how to protect yourself:
...Ignore instructions to text "STOP" or "NO" to prevent further texts. This is a common ploy by scammers to confirm they have a live, active contact for more cellphone spam, Never dial call-back numbers, either.
...Forward the texts to 7726 (SPAM on most keypads). This will alert your cellphone carrier to block further texts from those numbers.
...Anti-malware software is available for many phones. The trade-off may be reduced battery life, so check with your service provider or phone manufacturer for recommendations.
...Install upgrades to your security software. If you suspect an upgrade notofication is phony, check with your cellphone or software provider.
...Never store credit card or account log-in information in emails or notes on your cellphone.
...When you get a text promising you a $1,000 gift card, ask yourself: Would anyone really give me that?
Know, too, that banks and other legitimate businesses don't send customers unsolicited texts.

My advice is take your pictures down. This pisses alot of guys off. I get all kinds of complaints. But it's perfect because it kindof scares away the guys that want nothing more then to take your money or get into your pants.
I still get dates though. Some of them don't mind a blind date as long as I give a brief description and send him a text were we plan to meet up.

To start with this is a fake site why? Cause sort of speak nobody here is real, they chat then they disappeared, or they will give u their number n don't even answer n I know I'm not all of that, but I'm not that bad either so u know what I mean? I know is a date or hook up site but it how do u start a relationship? Well with friendship n getting rip know the person, at least that's how it is for me..but in bit here looking for love or a relationship just friendship n I KNOW theres ppl here who wants the same thing, but they r fake also lol anyways I think this ppl get paid top attract ppl n promote this fake site lol

Personally, if anyone asks me for money - there is no way I would give it to them.
I do feel bad for people who are susceptible to scammers, for what ever reason.
I don't think it does any good to post about them here, but I also don't blame people for that. The intentions are good (or I will assume they are).
The scary ones to me are the hackers, that can get info - without a person giving it up.

I would make a suggestion that folks who like to play on the internet DON'T do so from the same device which one uses to conduct personal, secured business. If a scammer/ hacker doesn't find anything worthy of "stealing" from your device, they pretty much leave you alone.

Those scammer whiners like to trash all the threads with their crap, unsubstantiated, accusations about all the scammers they have been in contact with on DH. If they would stop acting so desperate to jump the bones of everyone they hit on they might not be of interest to any real scammers which might be out there.

Be very careful. I met one who lived one state from me. Japenese/american moved here from Japan when he was young. Lost his parents in a car crash. Divorced with a daughter he was raising. Gave fake pictures of himself. Has no other family. Wrote poetry. Plays all the sappy sinerios to tug at your heart strings. Had a car accident and needs money for his daughter. Found out that the address he gave me was false. Even had a prepaid phone to call. It stopped when I told him to leave me alone or I would contact the police. His profile and phone number disappeared really fast.
