Soon, the Supreme Court of the United States of American will decide on a case where a white woman was denied admission while less qualified racial people were admitted. Race was the deciding factor. Even though better qualified she was denied admission. Race has been a factor in college admissions for 50 years. Has it's time come to an end? How long do we let such notions rule the destinies of our youth? How much time must pass before we get back to the fundamental idea that that if you are deserving you are and if you're not you aren't? And the point is it doesn't matter what color you are? Whatcha think people?
BTW, breast cancer has no favorites, but aids does!

Affirmative action is, has and always will be a complete disgrace.. In what world does denying anyone, anything base on race make any sense whatsoever. "oh sorry, you are very qualified but we are full on your race and we really need X of race Y" and "oh well you really are not what we need or are looking for, but guess what tou are of race Y so you get it!! Hurrayyy!!!".
This is all very different from "well you are of race X so we don't want you because we don't like race X" which of course is always wrong and stupid.

It will be interesting to see what the Supreme Court rules on affirmative action in the current session. Very interesting indeed!

I read an article in the newspaper today about a half black/half Hispanic celebrity (sorry I forget her name and dont' want to go look it up) that twittered that she supported Romney. She has been venomously attacked by many in the black community as a traitor and "Uncle Tom". She has even recieved threats. I guess race does matter to some people, especially black people. Or did I get the wrong impression here? Someone please educate me.

I agree. There is a need to some degree to 'level the playing field', but it shouldn't be based off of blanket standards such as race.
Socioeconomic status > race as far as issues such as these are concerned.

Race should have nothing to do with anything. As things are, it is simply used as a crutch and means of self-flagulation.
