it's always been a great debate. but never been declared. what do the people at home think? should it be legalized, controlled, and taxed? or forever illegal? in my personal opinion it should be legalized and taxed because it would create jobs and a more stable economy. even if we could export to other countries it would bring in at least a billion probably more. but what do you think?

Legalize, decriminalize, "harm-reduction" is the way to go-however it gets done I wish they (each state's government, and the feds too) would hurry up and pass reforms. 
Stop prosecuting people for doing something comparable to having an alcoholic drink or a drag of a tobacco cigarette (both of which are legal and not exactly fabulous for one's health, yet we're allowed to indulge in these substance habits to regulate mood & deal with stress). Self-administered moderate doses of caffeine are deemed acceptable as well (people can be trusted with having access to it)  Why not make that so w/marijuana ?
People get prescribed all manner of pharmaceuticals & society is okay with that, but if a remedy is something you can grow by yourself and not have to pay the drug companies boku bucks for, then that's a threat to the economy & civilization ? Oh please.
Most (not all, but an awful lot) of the problems with pot are solely due to it being illegal, those consequences are *not* inherent to the plant/active ingredients.

Outright legalization is the only way to go. I've been toking for 40 years. I've raised a family, always worked and paid taxes, been an otherwise decent law-abiding citizen. It's pure bs that I should be considered a "criminal" and "deviant" because of a nonsensical law that came into being due to politics, ignorance and fear-mongering- and those are the same reasons why we're having such a hard time changing it. Once I had a fantasy that it would be legal across the country, and eventually it will be, but it's taking so long that I will be out of time before it happens. It will be up to you youngsters to keep up the good fight, and don't stop until nobody ever again has to spend even one night in jail for a marijuana "offense." It would certainly help if we didn't have selfish growers/smokers who are only concerned that legalization might negatively impact whatever sweet little operation they already have going. Take one for the team, why don't you?

you can grow tobacco, and they tax that pretty heavily, i think they should legalize it, but with the same restrictions as alcohol. cuz its crazy you can go to jail for 5 to 10 for 4 blunts.

I am sick and tired of my tax dollars having to pay for people that go to jail over a joint, a blunt, or a sack. My GOD, For real. God put his fabulous Green herb here on this earth for our consumptions, ans uncle S.A.M. wants to throw people in jail over it. I mean come on, The bible basically says use all the green herb of this earth for its meat is good. When will the Federal Government realize that the herb can help get this country out of the debt that it is in, that is if they take certain precautions on marketing it. I know people can grow it, but there is always a way around something, just got to find it.
SO YES, legalize that shit for real, I guarantee The crime rate will drop, and my tax dollars will not have to pay for pot heads going to jail, take that money and use it to bust real outlaws. SO put that in yo pipe and smoke it uncle S.A.M.

50% of the herbs on earth can kill you, i'm pretty sure god didnt want us consuming, but also i'm tired of every officer calling weed a poison, it's not, it's actually proven to have many healing benefits, and if it was legal we would probably have a cure for cancer allready

Yay, the debate is a useless excuse for politicians to say liberals are law breakers. The fact that marijuana is detrimental to your lungs and serotonin cell heath, and it "altering your psychological health" has nothing to do with why it is illegal, it is however extremely hard to tax. Cigarettes are much more harmful to your health cigarettes destroy both your serotonin and melatonin, marijuana does more damage to your lungs, but you don't need to smoke as much, one joint has the same effect on your lungs as three cigarettes. I've met plenty of people who smoke twenty cigarettes a day, however i haven't met many people who smoke six or more joints a day. You do the math, whats worse? If the government could make a profit on it correctly, it would've been legal years ago.

Weed is a drug.It can be harmful.Not as harmful as they say but I know some individuals that shouldn't touch the shit.I grow for me and a select few friends,no $ involved.If they ever legalize it I will still grow tax free so the government can't waste more of my money,they get enough and misuse it.It is not a question of liberal v. conservatives because niether knows anything about pot and its positive affets.

As a law enforcement professional, I say yes legalize it and treat it like alcohol. However the punishment for selling it in the street should be tougher; as it is with buying cigarettes for minors.
