I just read a status that basically said she's dropping off her daughter so she can go party. How irresponsible is that?

If you put it that way, yeah. But still, dropping your kid off so you can go out to get drunk?

People with kids still need to get out and have fun every now and then. As long as she has a sitter who gives a shit?

here we go again...........I am a single mother, and yes I agree that single moms, just like any other mom, or dad, for that matter all need some time to themselves. However, I do not agree with ditching your child ...As for the comment, too much partying is why she may be a single mother is ridiculous, last time i checked it took two to tango.......soo better check where you are stickin your d*ck if you don't want to deal with the consequences..........

Dropping your kid off at a friend's house so you can go out and have fun every now and then is a far cry from "ditching your kid." I have a few friends who work extremely hard to take care of their children and once a month (if that) they find a sitter so they can go out and relax.

There is a difference between "ditching" and " having a night out". Everyone needs a need out, it benifits not only the parent, but the child as well. I do not however agree with parents, who choose to pawn off thier kids every chance they get.

this isnt the blame game damn it. Regardless of the "d*ck" involved- a woman that engages in a sybaritic lifestyle increases the chance of hooking up with "d*cks" and ending up pregnant. Let me say it AGAIN- the "d*ck" in question could be the biggest slimiest a**hole in the world, but SHE chose to sleep with him. Stop passing off blame.

Personally I am saddened by any parent that refers to their recreation as "partying". It's little cues like that, which give us insight into the person involved.

Cut the girl a break bro. Just because you have kids doesn't mean you all of a sudden have to stop living your life. If she likes to party fine. At least she's dropping the kid off somewhere and going out to party and not partying around the kid.

I would say she did better by dropping off her child to a responsible party as apposed to leaving the child "home alone"...

Both sexes deserve a night out child or no child. But if it becomes an every night thing, then that's a different story.

I say she has the right to have a life and party like I said, but then if she is doing it every night, then that's a different story.

Alot people don't always do the right thing, and yes, she should have thought about the child, but then she did by being responsible enough to place it with womeone she trusted.

Nothing wrong with that.

Care to expand on that? I agree in principle, what few decent jobs we have went overseas long ago...I just have issues with someone moving up here, taking one of those jobs, then b*tching about the way we live.

(And no,I have no kids...will starve to death or shoot a moose long before I'll ask for help.)

Lets examine the reality of maine: the majority of jobs in maine in the last 150 years can be divided into either agriculture/industrial or tourism. The average mainer was therefore not usually the most educated. Here we are in the 21st century and most of the on tourism jobs have left, and you have a LARGE population of very stupid farm folk and their descendants. The average mainer is very closeminded, xenophobic (your out-of-stater comment is very typical) and frankly almost proud of being ignorant.

You know as well as i do, life has moved on for Maine. The present population of disenfranchised farmers aren't getting any smarter.

I just have issues with someone moving up here, taking one of those jobs, then b*tching about the way we live.

F**k the way YOU live, the problem is being sold on an idea from the tourism office about how down to earth, pleasant and honest mainers are when thats a total fiction.

Maine is the south but with more snow.

ANd you know what? that out of state-er bullshit is tired and pointless. It's out of sdtaters that KEEP the money flowing in, test scores high and civilization present. YOu may hate ma**holes and new "yawkers" but if they stopped coming this place would dry up an be a third world nation in a year.

For better or worse I DO live here, and I don't plan to leave in this lifetime. I may not have been born here, but treating me like i'm less than the typical inbred mainer is both hilarious and tragic. WHen i first moved here, id get stopped by the police 3 or 4 times a week. the day i changed my plates to maine i havent been pulled over since.

there is no contradiction in moving to a place and having criticisms of it. many things do not become apparant until you have moved and even if i knew about them beforehand that doesn't mean i can't point out the very ACCURATE problems this state has.

(And no,I have no kids...will starve to death or shoot a moose long before I'll ask for help.)
then you are one of the very few. And i salute you, but even you have to see the ignorance of the older generation and the outright hoodrat shittness of the kids.

You are grouping people as a "majority" when you make your comments, which is totaly unfounded. That's like saying "all" women, or "all" men.

And then making fun of all "older" people, "younger" people, farmers, etc, is pretty much covering everyone in Maine.

The only thing I see you may perhaps have right is by saying "uneducated", in which that comment sureley must aply to you.

Realization at it's best.....

The only one here who is insulting people is YOU. You seem to confuse going to school with being smart.
You aren't labelled an out of stater because you weren't born here,
you earn that title through your intolerance of others, and your seeming need for things to be the way they were whereever you came from.

Despite your stereotype of us most Mainers are hardworking, often holding 2or 3 jobs just to survive.

Sorry RHW, that MIGHT have been the case with your generation, ill give 50 and up the benefit of the doubt, but can you really walk out into town and say the rude xenophobic shlubs you meet are anything short of ignorant shit?

As for being intolerant thats a bullshit comment and you know it, typical mainers are VERY antisocial to out of towners.
I am curious what "way" you think i want things to be exactly? because it sounds to me like an empty condescending comment.

the way i want things is people not being welfare rats, xenophobes and illiterate closeminded shits.

Everywhere you look you have unwashed obese trash making maine worse and worse. The image of the kindly old new englander has long since died in maine.

Honestly? the VERY rare times I have met a truly kind and wise and HELPFUL mainer, it was so shocking I specifically made sure I remembered their kindness. In 3 years, I have run across maybe 4 helpful people and ALL of them were over 50.

Now are the rest of the states full of a**holes too? sure, but Mainers are the ones trying to portray the state as some sort of heaven, when its not.

Id say many of those 2 and 3 jobbers are people that refused to get real jobs when they were younger (or are just plain too stupid) because they didnt want to work for somebody else and instead have all these schemes they try to pull off.
