I have a question, but it may seem really dumb. Is there any need for knitted hats, scarves or gloves for deployed military people? I'm big into knitting right now and was wondering if my hobby could benefit servicemen and women in any way. It may sound lame, but if anyone might know of any info about this, I'd really appreciate it

... Watch the news reports from Afganistan. See those little beenies everybody wears?? Make some of those if your hands are needing to do something. Then contact the local chapter of the American Red Cross and see what they need to help American service personnel.

if the military men dont have a need, maybe you could give to their families. Kids always need stuff like that. Or maybe u could contact ur local vfw or va hospital and give to the wounded or retired. Many retired service men especially from vietnam feel abandoned maybe ur knitting could bring a smile to them. Maybe u could start a chapter knitters for our knights or something like that and get more invovled. This is an awesome idea, if u dont mind i will talk to my sister and c what we can do here. I do kno nursing homes appreciate those kind of donations too. Or ur local boys/girls club etc etc. Or u could contact ur local recruiters office and see if the boot camp kids need anything. God bless you! May the work of your hands be a blessing to many!

There is no need to send knitted hats, gloves, etc to deployed military people. They can only wear issued items.
However you can send them to troops in places like Korea. Soldiers are stationed there for at least one year and can't bring thier families. They would appreciate the thought. You can address the package to: Any soldier at any of the following APO addresses.
