Is it just me, or have people actually devolved over the years? I mean spend a little time on the net and you will see what i mean.
People have lost the fine art of spelling. I mean even with spellchecker some folks can't even get it right.
I miss the days when intelligence showed through in writing, now it seems like it's cool to be a shitty speller.
Anyway, my rant is now done

I know for a fact about 8yrs ago the public schools stopped worrying about spelling, yes, they did.. I went to the District here and complained, why my daughter was not being corrected (with her spelling) and getting A's they said and I quote "We don't worry about spelling anymore because we now have spell check" Yes it floored me, and I went on my rant with them telling them "when my daughter goes for an interview there is no spell check" I also said "I am thankful when I was in school they taught us spelling and unless the parent knows how to spell their kids won't either that's sad"... At this point they said well we don't get "paid to do it anymore"... My daughter has come a long way with spelling, but to this day she still spells a few words phonetically (luckily she does look them up and knows how) We parents can't leave spelling to the schools... So Thank Public School System, the parents who don't care and the loss of money the schools get to teach our children.. (and if your a parent this is a lesson worth teaching your children) I'm thankful I took the time!!

I have to say,it IS incredible to see the number of illiterate people on the net,and even more incredible to read that the schools have quit teaching it.I can also personally attest to another thing at least one school in Okla. is doing...last year, when it was being threatened with being taken over by the state because the academic scores were much too low,the teachers set up a word code system to give the correct answers on the test to the students in order to keep their independent status.
