Personally I'm into art, I'll never own a Dali or a degas a Renoir or a Picasso so I wanted my own art and being the greedy f**ker I am, lol, I wanted it all to myself and to take it with me when I'm gone. And so here I am over 300 hours later..

This is so true and many people don't understand that the Natives have been doing it long before most people even knew what it was. I would love to go to a different country and get tatted in the traditional way doing it without the modern gun.

Most people associate Aboriginal American tattooing only to the Haidas Indians of the pacific north west but if you look at the Indian tribes of the north east like the wompanoag the Mohicans they all had it as an integral part of their culture.

That's another thing that's not known much about by the masses.. Like calling large piercings "gauges" large piercings are plugs or tunnels depending on whether they are solid or hollow. Gauge is a reference to the size only..

I actually had cremated ashes of my son's Dad, put into one of my tattoos of a lotus blossom, which is on my back. His Dad was my first love and he died of cancer at age 34. My other tattoos all have a special meaning. I love flowers, so I have a lot of flower tattoos.

My next tattoo will be in honor of an amazing artist who just passed away. Not only did he tattoo he painted, sketched and did scratch board stuff. It's something he did and just found the right artist to do it.

I like the pain, n the smell of the A&D ointment ....except for that 13 needle rotary work I had done on my back, I almost couldn't sit for that one.... All tattoos should have meaning, cuz if they don't, ur getting them for the wrong reasons , they last a life time , I have a cpl coverups, so i learned my lesson..

The first time i got a tat it was my brother learning to tattoo. Well the adrenaline and pain felt amazing to me the vibration though my body became a new addiction. Every one of my tattoos have meaning the thrill is what keeps me getting more. Plus our skin is a perfect canvas

Some very cool reasoning for getting tattooed. I did military "tribute" style tattoos, people come up with some great ideas when thinking about their time in the service. Blythe way, thanks for your services. As for "the car" being a motivation to get tattooed, I believe that's more of a motive to get to tattooing.
I like hearing all the different motivations people have for getting tattooed. So I guess the old adage is true"there are as many reasons for getting tattooed as there are tattoos"
