Has anybody here read any Joshilyn Jackson books? She's a girl I knew in college who has had several best sellers. In my opinion her best book is her first one, "Gods in Alabama".

As I've mentioned elsewhere, I have a copy of Jackson's "A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty" that I got from the library the other day. It's an excellent read as she has the feel and gift of poetic language. I don't I will be able to read through it at this time, but look forward to soon.

Joshilyn and I were theatre majors at Univ. of West Florida in Pensacola, Fla., during the eighties. She was a traditional student right out of high school--I was a returning student. She was a great actress and I really thought she had it in her to be a star. In a way I guess she is, but in writing now, not acting. I never was in a play with her. I think most people thought her best role was when she played the young wife in "Trip to Bountiful". Did you ever see the play or the movie?

"Trip to Bountiful" was written by a guy named Horton Foote. The Theatre Dept. at Univ. of West Florida was doing a repotory (sp?) of his plays, summer 1987, and we were fortunate to have him come and visit and see the plays. All his stuff is great--he wrote the screenplay for "Tender Mercies".
