no way. i agree in part that some of the guns are not needed for the average person to have but we definitely need to keep our right to bear arms. if we ever let the government take that right away, we can hang it up. we definitely need a way to defend ourselves. don't know about you all but i don't trust all of the intentions and motives of some of our political leaders. who knows what kind of idiots will get in power 20 years down the road. i have kept a loaded automatic pistol beside my bed for the last 30 years and it has not ever shot anyone yet. we even have some people in the military and on the police force that have no business with a gun. if they are the only one allowed to have one, then we are sunk.

The debate is over semi-auto guns correct? So called assault weapons that the average man can buy. Well, for those who b*tch the loudest and know the least, all guns to one degree or another are semi-auto. The M-16 can be fired semi. I have a 22 cal semi squirrel rifle. Compressed ari BB rifles are semi. Hand guns. In another forum I had to explain to this gun hating female that the "deadly, overkill" rifle the policeman was hold in an OWS protest photo was a paintball gun. No doubt shot tear gas balls.

If I make my own gun and ammo, it does not cross state lines does the Federal government even have a say in the gun? My understanding the feds can only have a say if the item crosses state lines.

Who have read the bill in question? Can anyone quote the language in the bills that claim your guns will be taken away? For all of the people who think their guns will be taken away, think ffora second. There are about 200 million guns in private hands. To collect them from each individual owner would practically bankrupt the system. Not enough manpower, not fast enough to thwart an uprising. There would be so many employees of the enforcement community against this, mutiny would surely exist. Some people need to stop watching apocalyptic movies.

Whatever gave you that notion? Do you realize that the net average response time of police to 911 calls is ten minutes? A hell of a lot can happen in ten minutes. You and your family could be dead, your house could be ransacked, your car stolen, etc, and don't forget some of these roid-popping cops are ex-military and mercenary thugs for hire just looking for an excuse to shoot you, and they carry full autos.
There is never not a need for the average person to have guns. Guns are actually one of our sovereign rights and in cities with high concentrations of legal gun owners crime has been scientifically proven to drop drastically. In fact, the Obama Administration had to abort one of their attack ads when they discovered that they could not falsify the scientific data proving that crime has decreased steadily in this country in states where concealed carry and more lenient gun ownership laws were passed.
But that's okay, they've still got the whole Fast and Furious boondoggle they're trying to use, Trayvon Martin, Sandy Hook....Anytime they can create a false flag or take advantage of a tragedy, your Federal Family will do so.

Hide your guns and hand them grandpa's old shot gun hanging over the fireplace and simply say "All I've got is grandpa's old shotgun that I inherited and hung as a decorative piece over the fireplace... I don't think it even works, I dunno I don't even have any ammo for it" Hopefully they will accept that.

In my opinion I think we shouldn't have the second amendment anymore.
agreed, especially considering the militia acts. even antonin scalia, arguably the most conservative republican on the court, said in heller that we had the right to bear arms before the second amendment was written and would keep that right if it were abolished. he went on to say that no right is absolute. the useless amendment was rewritten seven times before the founders could even agree on the wording.
