I could not be happier that I met someone here Of All Places!
Good solid advice to those that meet an exceptional person online: Close your account!
The most important follow up item after meeting someone special online is closing your account on the site where you met them. The analogy is, when you happen upon a fork in the road, choose one way or another, or in the words of Yogi Berra, "take it!". Don't remain at the fork (or in this case, the site) and ponder what people and activities the other 'way' holds- it will degrade the essence of making your decision and your choice to be happy... like a cancer degrades and transforms perfectly healthy tissue. By continuing to keep your profile, you continue to 'dangle bait' to others which will hurt the feelings of the one you met.
By not closing your account, you hold onto regret that there could be someone else- anyone else, and there could be- but it is a sorry way to start something new and a horrible feeling to keep in your life. And by not closing your account, you will always feel like you can undervalue your new partner because you have a back door option for when things get tough... this is an unintended symptom of online dating.
If you, like me, were actually on this site to meet someone, and if by chance you meet someone superior, embrace your luck, and be happy with the 'fork' life presented you. It cannot get better, even if you could have met them non-virtually... why? you ask, because people are busier and busier these days and it is ever more difficult to find that needle in a haystack, period.
Good luck finding what you are looking for.
Sincerely,
'JaneyKing' (account now happily closed)
