I am going to be attempting to cook a small turkey in my crockpot. Originally I was going to grill it but a neighbor had an accident involving my grill and copious amounts of alcohol. As it was already thawing and I saw that my only used for making chile crockpot was just large enough to fit it, I said, why not put cook it in there?
The primary reason I should not is that other than chile, I never use the crockpot. Second... I am not really sure how to... I have looked online a bit and most recipes and instructions I have seen are for people far more advanced in the cooking of fowl in such a way than I am.
Basically, I am looking for a recipe that is easy, and/or some advice for a novice such as I. Thanks.

I've seen recipes for a whole turkey breast in a crock pot-- but NOT a whole turkey. I don't think it would be a good idea-- the size of a whole bird would make it take too long to get up to temp-- making it more liable to let bacteria grow... Just get yourself a roaster pan and an oven baking bag-- follow the instructions.
I use MY crock pot about once or twice a week-- I've posted a bunch of recipes here already.

Thanks, but it turned out fine, the turkey was only a few pounds and I discovered it was already deboned. It was a from a friend and I never before have seen a deboned whole turkey before.
Also, my crockpot is one of those larger oval ones, it fit perfectly.
