girl, do i know how you feel. i am 6'0 ft tall (on flats.) with heels i can reach 6'2 or 6'3. i am comfortable dating guys the shortest being 5'10.
but give me a break, i get 5'7 to 5'9 height men. i feel like i am their mother taking them out. so they need to be on a leash, hehehehehe

How silly == if you really had feelings for a short guy you would let him go over height? This is as silly as a whole relationship based on looks - what if the other person was in an accident and disfigured - would they leave them?

If we all thought that way then a woman like me that is 5'4" would never date a man over 5'10. I understand the whole feeling like everyone is looking at you but isn't that in your mind?
So many famous tall women have married short men, and seem very happy.
I just get upset with this train of thought because then a man can say well I am skinny and you are fat, or a woman can say well I have hair and you don't. It should be about the chemistry and if personalities match. Not height. Maybe if you gave one of those guys a chance, you would find a great guy!

I know exactly how u feel......I'm 5'10 flat an 6 or more in heels.. ..but for everyone else who doesnt agree with the height issue. Its not bout how u feel for them. cause u could care for them but if ur not comfortable theres no way u can completely fall for them. if it was really meant to be then it wouldnt be an issue. but preference wise i wont date anyone under six feet. its just what makes me comfortable.

Nothing wrong with that I am not real tall 5'9" and have been out with a woman or 2 that tall without heels, so they were taller with them. It is just a matter of what one is attracted to and that is what matters...so there is no real GOOD or BAD just choice.

I'm 5'7" and I quite often get first contact emails that begin, "I'll bet you are so comfortable in your own skin that you don't care if your date is taller than you." WRONG!!! I think it looks ridiculous and I feel ridiculous with a date towering above me. There are just too many shorter women available for me to over look or is it "under look" the difference. I completely agree with the OP.

I am a tall woman - 5'10". I receive a lot of email from men who are shorter then me. But I also get plenty of email from men who are taller then me. I have to admit that I do prefer tall men but I've learned a long time ago that the height of a person really doesn't mean a thing.... It's what's inside that counts. Some of the nicest men that I have ever met in my lifetime were all shorter than myself. So I say, "Go for it ladies" and don't "SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF"....

It sucks for all of US short guys that women are so hung up on height. WHAT IF the guy were shorter..would the world stop? Would he love you any less?...I think height is truely the last taboo thing. Forget about interacial...that's so yesterday... I guess if you're a woman and you REALLY wanna be a rebel date a guy an inch or two shorter than you.
I've done a fair amount, or I should say I've attempted, of online dating. Its really interesting because the majority of women want a guy that is say....5'9"-5'10" or taller...EVEN if they're 5'0" or 5'1". Statistically, the odds are against us...since in our culture, where the man MUST be 4-5 inches taller, A girl that is 5'0"-5'5" is a match for almost every guy-since most guys are taller but a guy in that height range has almost no matches. Sad but true.
I guess....in summary....be flattered that we're interested and maybe give a shorter guy a chance....You know once you go short...you will never abort...or something like that.

Hi, I'm a little over 6 and have dated only one gal who was near my height. Always wanting to meet a taller woman, I finally met one, she was 5' 11". After dating for a few months, I began to feel uncomfortable/intimidated (yes, intimidated). It seems she really should have going out with someone even taller, say around 6'3" or more, this to fit her better. Her personality was a very strong one that matched her height, a sort of dominating and controlling type. My personality wasn't even a close match to her's. I'll try to stay with the average height one's. Good luck in finding that guy who can make you feel comfortable.

Im a 6'3 woman and have never dated a guy taller than me. Same height but never taller. I actually find that most...not all but most men taller than me are linky and have no butt..lol but it doesn't bother me him being a bit shorter. I to get emails from 5'7 guys...that's just to short for me so I know how you feel...it happens to all of us!

just like to say i am 5ft9 and every woman i have been with was over 6ft .i would never not like someone just because thay are shorter or taller then i am .some of the most beautiful women in the world that are tall are with shorter guys.but i do have to say i did learn something from dateing a lot of tall women so many of them are very insucure.and so ashamed of being tall its there own hang up.thats why thay dont want to go out with shorter guys .thay think people will make fun of them.so for the ladies who dont like shorter guys your doing them a good thing by not likeing them..it drove me nuts to always have to here how thay hate being so tall ..the funny thing about it is that it was the tall women who always came on to me not the shorter women .i mite be a shorter man .but was just as big in my heart as any tall man.and so many of my taller male friends would say to me how the hell do you get all the tall girls .so to all the ladies who are tall tall guys dont make fun of you for going out with short men if anything thay cant belive the short guy got the tall girl.

Well i'm 5'11 and a quarter barefoot, in heels i'm 6'3ish. I've dated guys as short as 4'8. It was awkward. Like a chiuaua with a great dane. but i also look at what they offering and try to get as close to my height as possible or taller.

Good comment. When you are 6'4" - most everyone is shorter (I know there are a few exceptions). There are many beautiful women, in all types of packages. But it's just easier being with someone who is also tall. I wish there were a "tall looking for tall" category that would simplify the searching. If you are tall near Tampa - look me up.

I know i'm gonna take flak over my opinion but these posts make me crazy. People are people. Short, tall, black and white, big and small we are all alike. I am 6'4" and have dated women 5'1" and 5'10". I have dated black, brown, tan and white. They were all great gals just not great for me. If you are willing to base your happiness on height, color, age or anything other than what your heart tells you, You are destined to be alone for a long time.

ahem, but seriously. I know what it's like to not find a particular trait appealing. Even to the point where it's a turn off. What bugs me more is a double standard. If you don't like short men, you should not get upset when you hear a guy likes younger women or thin women.
I'm not saying that this is what you're doing. I just hate when women have lists of things they can do without and get offended when a man has a similar list.
You have the right to be selective, but let others be also. It's not a bbad thing, but it's not a trait everyone shares. It can be a touchy subject.

Frankly, I could care less if a guy is shorter than the ideal height. I'm 5'3" and anything taller than me is good. I've heard that whatever height differences there are, they all even out in bed anyway.
