I'm a Guyanese man who went to college in Vermont and also lived in Vermont for a few years after graduation. During the 21st century, cultural diversity has been growing in Vermont, especially in the Burlington region.
Going to college and living and working in the Burlington region, I always felt accepted and respected.
Do you feel that Vermont is a welcoming place for cultural diversity? Why or why not?

Vermont's always been a diverse place.
Of course, the Abenaki have been here for thousands of years.
The French had some settlements here before the English settlers came.
In the 1840s, Irish started coming to Vermont. They built the railroads in Vermont. Plus, they worked in the marble quarries.
Also the French Canadians began coming here in the mid 1800s along with the Welsh who worked in the slate quarries.
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the Italians, Polish, Spaniards, and Russian Jews started coming to Vermont.
A Chinese man owned a laundry in Rutland in the 1870s and 1880s.
African Americans have lived in Vermont since the 1760s.
Since the 1990s, lots of immigrants and refugees from Africa (Somalia, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, etc.) and from Asia (Vietnam, Burma, etc.) have arrived in Vermont.
So Vermont is a diverse place.

What the heck that have to do with diversity?!
That's just propaganda. Hemp for paper?! In the computer age, really?
Vermont already has medical marijuana dispensaries. No need for the soapbox preaching.
I live in the college ghetto. I've seen and heard it all.

Ummm, I'm a native Vermonter. Born and raised in this area.
Not sure if I have Native American in my family tree. My Mom's family came from Wotton, Quebec. They grew up around the Native Americans in that area.

We are very diverse in the Burlington area. We have a large resettlement program for Sudanese, Bosnians, Vietnamese etc. I would love to hear more about the influence the French Canadians and Native Americans had in this area.

Don't you think it is odd that she blocked me but not you, Alonbak?
"I would date johnny. I would date someone who is honest than some who is fake. I know who is fake that likes to spread lies. Johnny is my hero ."
Dh strongly suggest that you treat every potential date with caution. Not everyone is who the appear to be including yourself with no picture. Since I am not planning to date him or you (if you are a man), I see no reason to question or harass. Just block him like you did me and move on.
Johnny, why do you feel it is your life's mission to harass this man because you feel he's a fake yet there are sex offenders, alcoholics and drug addicts, criminals and scammers after your money and you are fine with them? I post with "fakes", which is about everyone, and enjoy them. I am not planning to ever meet them, so why not?
Alnobak can report them to customer service for harassment and stalking. They may only go in dh jail for a few weeks but if it helps.

I don't go thread to thread just to harass someone I don't see eye to eye with. Why do you feel the need to stalk and call him names? I don't even block unless I feel threatened. Did he threaten you like you are doing to him? He has every right to be on dh as you do!!!!!!!!!!!
All I see is three thugs that should be ashamed of their bully tactics. What are you teaching your children? To be intolerant of anyone who is different than you? There are people with all sorts of disabilities and lifestyles. They deserve to find friends or some to love just like everyone else.
Have you actually spoken to her in person? I doubt it. We are all strangers and fakes until we know someone. You don't even know if she is actually a "she".

Vermont is famous for its Celtic cultures: the Irish in West Rutland and Castleton, the Welsh in Fairhaven and Poultney, and the Scottish in Barre.

My father's of English and Welsh blood. So I've got Yankee Green Mountain Boys and Welsh slaters as my ancestors from my dad's side. My mother's of Irish blood. Have the Irish immigrant marble quarry workers (stonepeggers) as my ancestors from my mom's side.

I'm glad that Italian immigrants settled in Rutland, Proctor, and West Rutland back in the time period of 1880s to 1920s. That's why we have some great Italian restaurants here in the Rutland area!
