I have a major passion for scented candles so a few years ago I decided to give it a shot on making my own. It is pretty time consuming but I love it.

Candles are very nice, especially scented ones. I remember when I was young my mother would occasionally make candles. She loved trying different crafts.

Way to go, OP. A very nice hobby to have and it can bring in some extra money from craft fairs.

Its something I have an interest in, but haven't tried yet. I heard about this woman in Arlington Va and she's made an entire business of it. She uses soy wax.

I always wanted to try making my own candles, I saw a woman making them at a craft fair I went to years ago. However my town didn't have shops that sell that kind of stuff or at least none I noticed. Any tips or comments you could spare if I was to try when I get home?

I learned candle-wicking at my great-grandmother's knee.

I made candles a long time ago for gifts for people for Christmas and just for fun. I also used to work in a candle factory for a while also that gave me more ideas for what to do and was able to buy some of the equipment that they didn't use any more for making votives and pillars. I also like making hand dipped and I taught candle making to small chilren.
