American History is super interesting, and Zinn's work concerning the civil war was cool.
My favorite bit of history to read about though is the revolutions of France and Henry IV.

Have you seen Ken Burns documentry on the civil war? 5 dvd but was the best iv ever seen. Also iv read about president Andrew Jackson. It first started 30 years before the war began you see. It was his vice president calhune that really pushed it. He wrote the bill called Nullification. Where states could not pay tarriffs set by the gov. .. I could say more. But I know id bore you to death lol

For a good balance in the history you might enjoy reading some of the works done by Native Americans concerning this subject matter.
Your bookstore will help you locate books" from the other perspective.

Yes I have very much to learn on that I promise you. I always want ro take in all sides of history. You have to be careful of you listen to..I have seen a great documentry called 500 narions. Hosted by kevin kosstner --- oki know I misspeled his name. ----but was very good. I highly recommended it. Dealt with early European comin to south and north America. It does talk of the other side..Custer was almost as bad as andrew jackson on how he treated American Indians. Was slauter and murder of innocent men. Wemon and children. Much history is not taught in schools.
