There's no way to be extremely nice. Just call him and say you're just not interested in him and you hope he finds what he's looking for and have a great future. Avoiding it's just coward way to do it nd that's how guys get offended.

Well there isn't a nice way to tell a person that you're not interested BUT in the long run they will appreciate your honesty. Besides you wouldn't want someone stringing you along.
For example, this man, profile name "rrllim4u" became angry because I did not feel comfortable giving my number...So instead of taking it gently, he messages me by calling me a c*nt and then blocking all messages LOL... So you can be as nice as you want, you cannot prevent a poor outcome.

I have told a guy or two that I wasn't interested. Only the mature ones actually handle it in an adult like manner. Its NOT what you say but how you say it.
I usually just say " thank you for the kinds words but I am sorry I am interested" then I continue on to explain that I wish them the best and so forth....
Like this jerk 77WRS sent me a message about his hair. I wasn't able to respond because I wasn't ON LINE. Yes some of us have a life.. His response to me was " thanks for not responding C*NT"
Yes I reported him. These boys behavior is just plain ridiculous and uncalled for.
Just be honest, don't waste the person's time, but you can't prevent their reaction.

You ladies know there are a few die hard woman haters on this site. Nothing you do or say is going to change that.
I'd rather tell a guy up front that we can chat if he wants but that's all, or I'll say something like thanks but I don't think we're a match. Usually they want to know why (personally I'd never ask a man WHY DON'T YOU THINK WE'RE A MATCH???) and that makes it awkward.
Sometimes you just can't win. They get angry if you don't respond at all, they get angry if you say thanks for the kind words but I don't think we'd be a good match, they get angry if you exchange several messages in the interest of conversation but then they start trying to take it further and you tell them you thought the two of you were just chatting...
There's some good ones, the rest get blocked! Like karmakiki said, if you say it kindly and they're hurt and angry, well...not your problem!

Just be honest and polite. Basically the same way would would prefer someone tell you. If they continue to message you and ignore your request, block them. Also, unlike what's been done in this thread, don't call them out by their screen name as that's not only childish and rude, but also against the sites policy. I hope the advice that your fellow ladies with more respect and class has given helps solve your question. Best of luck

Depends on the situation. Are you talking about face to face interaction or online? Also if they have already moved on themselves, there is really no reason to have any further discussion.

Saw this later. This assumes you have personal contact. In that case it's best to let them know but in a public place in case they do become upset. Invite them out to lunch or what not and come in your own car.

It depends on how long you've been dating the guy.  I wouldn't do it by text or email. At least call him and tell him. Just tell him you need a break. That usually gets the point across.
