I have long hair and I have for years. I cut it off once and hated it, its part of who I am!! But I have got a few negative comments, so I thought I would put it out there.

I miss mine.

Used to be lush in my 20s but it didn't look anything like the same last time I grew it out.

Yep it all equates to cleanliness. Judgement on hair, weight, shoe size or any of that is really superficial. What's under the skin, hair, clothing is what's most important. I'm not about appearances much at all. I just don't give a rip. Oh is that a fungus on your feet??

I personally like long hair on guys (but I'm not a middle part fan on men or woman)but with that said, as people age the hair tends to thin out and recede. Once that starts the hair needs to get short.

I was a hairdresser for over 20 years and I can't tell you how many times I wanted to slip with the scissors because the hair might have been long but wasn't pretty. Either it was way too thin, was missing coverage on the top or back, so they do the comb over) or even with the haircut they still had so many split ends it looked terrible.

But if your happy why should it matter what any one else thinks.

Cousin

You should rock whatever hair YOU feel like rockin'. It's your hair and your life. If others don't like it that is their problem....I am a long hair fan. Mine is well past my waist.

PLAYs post is just another example of people judging a book by its cover. Unfortunately that is how society is.

I've had long and short hair...there is definitely a difference in the way society views you. Regardless of that I wear my hair how I want.

Personally I think that men should be bald or balding (see my "real men don't have hair" thread from a few months ago!)
It just sickens me when I'm hanging out with a group of friends and they have all been cursed with a full head of hair! It's not their fault I realize...genetics and low testosterone levels play a major role in this! I do not try to treat them differently...really! But that said, once in a while a derogatory term such as "mop top" or "hairy" will slip from my mouth.
it's sad to see how society treats them as well. Going to a bar and seeing the women stare at them as if to say "dude, dont you know what a razor is for?"
Maybe someday society will see that excessive folicals doesnt make the man.
Like Dr. MLK said; I have a dream that all men, those with hair and those that have blessed with baldness will be treated as equals! That society will not judge a man based on the hair on his head, but by the content of his character. I have a dream.

Just call me Rapunzel! Actually, wear the hair how you see fit. Those that judge you based on the length of your hair may not know who or what they are missing. Just piss on 'em and watch 'em rust if they can't handle it.

When I was cutting their hair i use to tell men who had the traditional bald spot in the back of their heads that it was a solar panel for a sex machine.

I was wondering if maybe I went too far with the low testosterone comment!
Yes, sunburn sucks! What is worse than that is when it starts to peel. Loose skin in rapidly thinning hair is not a good look! I got burnt through a skull cap before and through a dew rag! (Not at the same time....but maybe I need to double up!)

Yea xxx, you're a freak! Get a hair cut!

When I was young my mom sent me to get a hair cut. The first time all by myself. The barber had hair past his shoulders as was the style in the early '70s. He asked how I wanted my hair. I told him "like yours". He barely trimmed anything off and I went home. My mom took me right back there to get the hair cut she thought I needed!

In high school, the mid 70s, I let my hair grow. At it's longest length the end was between my shoulder blades, dry. I say that because the longer it got, the more curly it was. So, wet was a bit longer.

Long hair on men is much more widely accpeted now than it was then, too. Back in those days there was a dress code in school where the boys couldn't have their hair below the shirt collar. That was the code in jr high school. High school was more lenient.

Today, my employer has a dress code, too. Long hair and facial hair is not allowed.

Doesn't really matter to me. Whether you have long hair, short hair or no hair. Hair does not make the man.

I honestly believe it is a part of who you are and if it makes YOU happy then go for it. First appearances are important so keep it braided back for a first date. Clean and smelling fresh and nice. I fall in love with personality first and looks are icing on the cake!
