6 days in a row of 5 miles a day in the pool. Dropped 10 lbs (1/8) of my goal weight and then woke up Sunday morning with fungus growing out my ears lol.
If you plan to swim you should always dry your ears after your swim with a blow drier and then drop a few drops of 70% isopropal alcohol or vinegar and water solution in each ear as an astringent (If you have money Domeboro is best).
As a cure if you get swimmers ear continue the Domeboro and get the Dr to prescribe you ORAL antibiotic Ciprofloxacin. The ear drop antibiotics are ok but conflict with the soothing effect of the Domoboro which you will want to keep.

If you are prone to swimmers ear then wear earplugs. DUH! And any water which may get in the ear canal "wick" out to dry.
Do not use alcohol drops in the ear. It tends to cause dryness of the canal and ear drum and can lead to hearing loss. Check with your physician if you are a consummate 'water dog'.
As for Cipro ----- have your physician advise you on any antibiotic therapy treatment you may need. Cipro can be fatal to people who are antibiotic anaphylaxic.
