Helpful tip, too much salt...add a little vinegar and sugar, then taste. A raw potato helps absorb salt in stew or soup.
Bitter tasting brewed coffee, ad a pinch of salt in coffee that has brewed to long.

use of a pinch of baking soda does cut out gasses-with beans always soak til bean swells-with fresh water-before cooking.then add pinch of baking soda.

if you get your mashed potatoes too thin stir in a little instant potato flakes (also good for thickening soups)

Always use chicken stock, beef stock, vegetable stock, etc, instead of water when making savory dishes. When you use a stock, there's no need to add seasoning because the stock is already seasoned.
