I have a purebred long hair toy chihuahua. He is about 5 lbs and is very protective. I want him to have at least one litter before getting fixed. It's the way the family and I have always raised our dogs. He does really well with female dogs in general. I would love to breed him with either a beagle, pekingnese, or another chihuahua. Small breeds are definitely what we are looking for in general.

Maybe you should neuter your dog and adopt a puppy?A neutered male dog can still have sex.

I won't get him neutered until after he has a litter. Even if I did, the particular breed I would love to have as a puppy, they won't necessarily have. I would like either a cheagle or pikachu. I know I can get a purebred chihuahua from a variety of places, but I would love to have a mixed breed puppy. That would mean that I want a purebred beagle or pekingnese

There are thousands of dogs put down everyday and ones without homes. Why would you contribute to that problem?

Thank you Ladies...especially Reese.Your post was a very good and accurate one.
OP ,Hon I do understand your desire for a certain puppy,{I want a teacup poodle so bad I can hardly stand it}but bide your time and one will become availible for adoption.Im sorry Sweety but you are not likily to get much support in your backyard breeding proposition here. Some of us are or have been formal rescuers and I for one have in the past been the one who stood in the room putting down perfectly healthy and adoptible puppies...many of them purebred, soley because there were so many comming in these had outrun their allotted time for someone to choose them.Im talking chicken meat shipping boxes full of corpses stacked in huge stacks to go to the creamatory.Once you've been there, everytime someone like you brings up a topic like this I see the faces of those sweet babies that I had to put down, know 1st hand how many more will die this way today and it kills me.Ive got a little foster dog here that is apparently pregnant. She's little and just pulled through a very nasty disease that nearly killed her.Now she's gonna have puppies?I don't have any funds left to spay her let alone pay for an emergency c section if she needs one{there were two large male dogs on the property she came from}. this dog only 7-10 months of age.Sweetest lil gal you could meet.Im turning inside out worried for her.Find SadieJane's thread and see her pics. She has a pregnancy hold on her rt now,but would you believe only one person has considered to adopt her {and he backed out after thinking through adopting another dog at this time}?I can't adopt every dog I save.I have 11 already, and 6 are large. And I havn't mentioned the cats.I can't hardly GIVE them away AFTER I ve spayed, vaccinated, treated for veterinary issues.I swear I'll puke the next kitten I see...which can be any minute ,we are on birth watch now with one.
And just because an animal is papered and purebred and is the love of your life does not mean its breeding material..do you know how to look for recessive traits?Has all the "breeders"{not all are trustworthy or responsible and most just put two dogs together with no awareness of what they are doing. Then you get dogs like my german shepherd,Guage, who goes through terrible suffering from heriditary allergies {his Mom and two sibs were show quality dogs...then there is Guage....and flipper...she's a cairn terrier rescued from a puppy mill.Fliiper got her name from her rt front appendage...it looks like a flipper or chicken wing. She also has a very severe overbite and cushings disease. She was an exellent mother and raised countless litters of purebred and papered puppies that were sold as such without any mention of what kind of puppies they might produce. There is probibly nothing wrong with your little guy and im sure he is cute as a button, but how well do you realy understand about his genetics?

The very title of this thread is beyond ridiculous. Most animals do not breed for the gratification that humans and evidently dolphins get from sexual encounters. Therefore, the term "getting him some" is, for lack of a better word, STUPID. OP, it makes you seem like someone who is very uneducated when it comes to animals. That's sad b/c people like you are the ones that think nothing about the welfare of the animals you are breeding and bringing into the world or if anyone will want the puppies. You only care about your dog fathering other dogs and the consequences be damned.
