First off thanks to all who have served, I personally appreciate the military I come from a military family with my grandpa a retired Chief in the Navy.
My question is I'm going to be graduating college in a couple years and I would like to go into the military to be an officer but idk I'm torn between the navy and Air Force.
I really need some advice thanks

Couple of things jump at me almost instantly - what direction are you thinking of going IF you were NOT considering the Military ? ? ? Medical - technical - business ? ? ?
If you go Navy, don't forget that odds are pretty good you may wind up at sea - that 'adjustment' can be pretty rough, even if you are on a carrier. ROTC program available? ? Either route, Good Luck! ! !

I don't think it matters. What does matter is what shellfishguy is directing you towards .Think about your strengths and what technical skills you have or want to get and go that way.And if there ROTC at your school get in to the program!

my cousin talked me into going the Air Force. He had a guaranteed job as a missile mechanic. found out in basic training he was color blind. he got discharged and I was stuck on a general entry. So yes get it in writing. Check out Military.com for info on current trends in sectors that need people after your get out.

Air Force, as a Marine Corps vet I've whitnessed how great the educational benefits are and quality of life that most Air Force personnel have. They don't have to live on ships and most are never even near an actual combat zone.

Its 2014. I served in the Army (1/501/101st) during Vietnam as a combat medic...I aint gonna say they are not the best branches- but neither has won a war-that happens only on the ground- grunts win wars. If not Korea, Vietnam Desert Storm, OIF and OEF would have been over along before they were (or for that matter are are still going on).In each we had naval and air superiority, so-- What was the last great sea battle? What was the last decisive air battle? Keep in mind the Air Force was a bastard child of the Army and the Marines are the Mens Dept. of the Navy) It takes foot soldiers to win wars.... but I'm damn tired of watching them both beat Army's a** in football! LOL And much respect here! "One fight-one force"!

As a recent Navy vet I would say go Navy. Life at sea isn't as bad as some make it out to be. The time flies by and you will get to see more of the world than any other branch.
I am a little biased but I highly recommend checking out the AME rate.  . Thank me for that later.

If you join either you have a chance at learning a skill that could make you employable after your discharge.Those opportunities exist in the Army and Marines , but not as much and the Mafia isnt hiring or snipers door kickers ,so 0311s and 11Bs arent much in demand in the civilian world.Neither are tankers, gun bunnies and cannon c*ckers!

OK, now that I've got that out of my system, it sort of depends on your goal. What's your major, or what type of officer do you want to be? Electronic Engineering you might be a Communications Officer (as in Radio, SATCOM, Network systems,) y could be Public Affairs, hell, could be a pilot. Whatever your goal is will determine which one will be best for you. I'm partial to the Air Force, but I'm a little biased. Do you have an idea of what you want to do?
