I just returned, this morning at about 0300 a.m., from a trip to las Cruces. We drove through my old hunting areas near ruidoso and cloudcroft on our way there and back.
NM is in a big hurt for water!!
Everything was dry! There was a fire in/near ruidoso in 2012 that was really bad....
I moved away from las Cruces in 1985 but have to go back to get my Mexican food fix and stock up on Mexican salsa, etc once in a while. I still have friends there I visit. I'm planning on an elk hunt in the near future, nothing expensive, hopefully a cow hunt with my son and a couple my friends on the Mescalero Apache reservation.

I read news from all over the state. Tell something from where you are from. In farmington, we have murders, drug busts, child abusers, everyday! We have alot of meth use here. Thats usually how the other crimes usually come to be.

I know there is not a big population from new mexico on this site, but seriously, no one has anything interesting to say? Well in farmington, it the usual SSDD. We have alot of issues with substance abuse here so the main news here is how to afford to provide treatment and preventive care to people who otherwise might be in jail or on the streets. In the winter, they might freeze to death due to being drunk and passing out. Many of our area care, but can not help, many try, without enough resources. How do other cities in our state deal with this? Especially with winter approaching...

Well it's not that people can't help, but won't help. Seen it here in poor areas here in Colorado even in our larger cities. Now we have churches banding together to help everyone. We'll be having Thanksgiving dinner at the train station for all; no charge nothing but fellowship and love here!

Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season. I am still wrapping presents for grandchildren! Im like Clark Griswold, i always try to make the memories that count more than presents. When they came to decorate the tree, we listened to christmas music and my lil granddaughter started singing along with it. Very awesome! Anyone want to share your christmas memories? Hope so!

Phil, This entire area, which you mention has some very beautiful spots without a doubt.
I think in time, I might like moving from Alamogordo, to somewhere like Cloudcroft, mayhill, Ruidoso, some more remote country areas. Only one thing to fear maybe, forest fires! Otherwise, many of these places are total shangrila, and peace and tranquility!

Hmmm...i love tamales! Only pork or chicken tho. I don't like beef and I've found venison to be too gamey. What else do you cook?
