I was at the gyne midlife doctor. She said that the weight gain is from prednisone and insulin spikes. Thats also why I am having skin issues. I just got in from the gym and couldnt do much there with all the swelling of my lower extremities. Im not big on fad diets either. I maintain a low fat low sugar diet and rarely cheat.

I have a nutribullit for making smoothies. The doctor doesnt want me to drink my calories because of the sugar content also I have to avoid fruits, I bought a low carb drink that is low in calories for the morning. I also bought slim quick gummies.

but I do agree. for how many calories in one fruit smoothie, you can eat quite a bit more in lean chicken and broccoli/spinach/zucchini

I would clarify with your doctor what they mean by "not drinking calories". making a smoothie out of fresh and natural fruits and veggies is a WHOLE LOT DIFFERENT than drinking a soda or a powerade. generally, that's what they mean.

I can make a chicken smoothie, and then it's technically DRINKING your calories, but not, if you're following what I'm saying.

if your doctor is telling you to eat these slim fast gummies and take supplements, you seriously need to speak with a different doctor.

unless there is some underlying health issue - thyroid problems, diabetes, etc, there is NO REASON you NEED to take supplements. what you need to do is learn to eat healthy, and then implement an exercise regime.

100 years ago, we did not have obesity. we did not have slim fast gummies. we had active lifestyles, and unprocessed foods.

this "low carb drink" for the mornings, I would re-evaluate. your body digests liquids MUCH quicker, which will lead you to want to eat earlier and more frequently than if you would have eaten something solid.

One more day to complete 10 days. So far no noticeable weight loss. No out of the box foods and drinking water or green tea. Think I'll try my fitness pal, I have a consult on June 2 and want to confirm necessity.

I do use my fitness tracker - same deal, to track your fitness and your food consumption. be sure to measure things and look at serving sizes!!!

like I said, there's more to it than whatever this so-called doctor has told you. I don't mean this offensively, but 10 days is plenty to start seeing some changes, if you're not, you're not doing something right, whether you're not doing things as you need to, or her suggestions are just whack

It must be the steroids holding the weight. I have a little calcium intake and fear keeping this up with having osteopenia. I get a bone density exam next week. The bariatric consult should help in June. I'm not much of a food eater and I think the food pal requires eating certain foods. I eat baked fish, lettuce and a few other raw vegies with lemon on them.

That does help. Chip off a piece at a time. It doesn't seem so insurmountable then. Start out with an article of clothing one size smaller than what you are currently wearing. Hang it up in an obvious place then look at it daily. Promise yourself that you will fit into it but XXXX date. When you accomplish that goal then put up a smaller size in it's place. Keep doing that until you get to your goal. I have done that and it works!! I used jeans to do that with but it doesn't matter what the article is just as long as it is a smaller size than the current. Good luck!

I found that hunger was often just habit nagging at me.

Unless I'm eating a scheduled meals if I get the urge for a snack or feel hungry I drink a bottle of water and walk around the block. Then I reevaluate if I was actually hungry. Or whether I was bored. Or whether it was habit nagging at me.
