Hey everyone,
Just as a reminder that the Dragon Boat Festival will be at Sloan Lake on July 19th and 20th. You will see me out there with the NAAAP of Colorado at the beer garden serving y'all the booze. Plus, I'll be dragon boat racing with a team called "Adaptive Adventures" and my crew is being coached by an Olympian. Yes, my crew and I are serious about the sport since our goal is to compete in Hong Kong after our several victories stateside. Come cheer us on. Most of us are wounded warrior alumni. ^_^

I hope y'all enjoyed the festival this past weekend. My team had surprised a lot of the elite competitors during day 1 as we were able to get ahead of last years champs, Colorado Flying Dragons. We lost to them by 5 seconds because a lot of us thought we've got passed the finish line so we came in 3rd. After getting off the dock, one of the Flying Dragons said that they were worried that they would end up in second. We made it to the finals for the 250 meters and lost. The following day for the 500 meter race, first heat, we were able to keep up with the Flying Dragon's sister team "PASCO", we came in second and we were .7 secs slower. Plus, we were missing 2 engines (two paddlers compared to PASCO who had a full team of 20). Once again, we've made the finals for the 500 and came in 3rd. We were an inspiration to the spectators and earn respect from the elite teams.
Our team are made up of wounded warrior alumni's, we had a 72 year old army vet, 2 paddlers missing a leg, 1 with nerve damaged, and others who have some sort of service connected disability so we were broke d*cks to begin with anyways. Look for us again for next year's festival.

Congrats on placing third! I've been in the festival before and it's a lot harder than it looks. It takes a lot of teamwork to place. Hope you had a good time!
