Hi.
Does anyone have good tips on being able to diet and not feel hungry? to tackle those hunger pangs? I tried weight loss shakes but they were not filling and in my opinion stimulated more eating.
Any low calorie snacks that are filling that you can buy already made?
I need to loose weight but unable to exercise. I live with chronic pain (even when I was thin) and walk with a cane. Even a stationary exercise bike is painful. I know if I loose weight it will make a big difference.
I like myself for who I am, I am ok with my weight, Passed my physical 100% ( outside bad hip and knee) I want to loose weight so I can walk with less pain and without a cane. 44 is far to young to be struggling along walking with a cane.

Fibrous vegetables are your best snack friend when dieting. They fill you up with zero calories after they're digested. Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, asparagus, lettuce, celery, cucumber, etc. Top them off with zero calorie spray butter, salsa, chili powder, low calorie dressings, or low cal stir-frys. You'll have to do some pre-preparation.
You're asking too much if you want some low calorie filling snacks that are already made.

Eating lots of protein and fiber, limiting carbs, and drinking mostly water have helped me cut down the appetite. Baby carrots, apples, and peppers (not the spicy kind) are great snacks.

Also put protein filling foods into your diet particularly for dinner. Lean meats and veggies/fruits are the best way to keep hunger in check. Snacking foods with carbs do nothing but deplete your energy after awhile and leave you craving for more food.

Eat not real sweet Apples-they take a lot of energy to digest them and they fill you up better than anything else I have tried.

Veggies are super easy. I'll fill a Tupperware container with my veggie or choice or medley of choice, sprinkle some pepper and garlic powder on it with two to three drops of olive oil, when I'm hungry I'll add a splash of water microwave it for 30-45 seconds to steam it and nosh away. Very filling, excellent supply of nutrients, and easy to do.

the only thing that I have found that helps fill me up and keep me filled up is EAS Whey chocolate protein powder. It has 30 grams of protein, which helps me not feel hungry for several hours and it is only 150 calories.
Something that has made a huge difference in my joint pain is to eat a gluten free diet. I can tell a difference within 48 hours

Drink a lot of cold water.
1) Cold water takes longer to digest than room temp water and leaves you feeling fuller longer. Plus, half the time dehydration is masked as hunger.
2) Cold water raises your metabolism and makes your body burn calories by elevating body temp to adjust.

I agree with rdeffley ... DRINK WATER.
However, while sizable quantities of cold water isn't going to harm you, warm water is far more effective -- not only in assimilation, but in long term relief. It's tough to get used to and not very tasty, but it's extremely effective in mitigating hunger pangs.
Also, the best time to drink water is IN THE MORNING. It wakes up your organs and awards your gastrointestinal system with a treat it hasn't enjoyed since you were a breast-feeding infant in diapers. If you doubt that, put an honest effort into trying it and you'll be a believer in no time at all.
Volume is equally important ... Consume a minimum of 1.5 quarts a day. Make it CLEAN water too (like reverse osmosis), NOT the poisonous garbage oozing out of your tap!
Believe me, I LIVE my own life by these rules -- I'm not just pontificating.

have found the more I work out the hungrier I get. Inhale lost over 50 pounds but now eat every three hours.. just don't eat as much in one sitting..

Yes, much more hungry, gained over 10 lbs at hunting camp in Georgia last year as nearest gym was fifty miles away and the hunger never let up. I have some weights and other exercise toys laid out to carry up this year, as my bicycle and climbing trees were not enough. Now if I can just find a lady.......that burns a few

OP. Start your day out with a protein filled breakfast. Steel cut oats. Some lean turkey or chicken. An ORGANIC protein shake that doesn't have man made chemicals and traces of things known to be poisonous and detrimental to the body. A protein-filled breakfast will give you energy for the day. Will also keep you fuller, longer.
