Hi, My last dog piddled on the carpet, the dog is gone, and the carpet has been shampooed, I am getting an adult dog who is fully potty trained, will he smell the old dog and pee on the carpet also??

yes unless you wash everything down and put in new carpet. The new dog will smell where the old dog watered the carpet.

U don't need a dog u need a stuffed animal. Giving up on a puppy is just wrong.

you don't need to replace the carpet...you said its been shampooed...if anything, saturate the area with white vinegar...Let it sit... then blot up, when vinegar dries u can't smell the vinegar, vinegar is a natural deodorizer & kills odor.
I did it when my 16yr old Border collie had an accident on carpet & I had just gotten a 6month old Border collie...he didn't re-mark the spot.

This is true. Used it regularly when I had dogs coming through my house for grooming. No lingering odors and no stains. I used 1 part vinegar to 1 part water and kept a bottle ready at all times.
