I was just wondering how many fathers with custody of their children are getting child support. If not, why?
I have been raising my two daughters for 5 years. The egg doner lives in Florida and I live in New Hampshire. It comes directly out of her paycheck so she can't avoid it.

I don't get a dime of support. The mother lives on the other side of the country, remarried again for the second time after walking out and doesn't work.

It was ordered to my father years ago, but never enforced. He finally got a large payout when my egg donor received a sum of money, but it wasn't until after both my sister an I were over 18.

My ex makes more than I do plus she lives with her boyfriend in his house and he makes a lot so she doesn't miss the child support she pays. She only sees the kids a few times a year.

I'm supposed to but I don't.I also have one of her sons from her previous marriage living with me.And I don't get any help from his father either.But he is being raised with my values and my knowledge.

After four years of raising My 3 kids by myself, the court ordered child support.Then I got one check for $200 .and she quit her job and took off.nobody from her family knows where she went.I'm just happy she is gone,I would have gone after child support 4 years if that's all it took to get rid of her

Well than, I wish you all the best. I don't know the situation, but there is another way to look at it. Could be something you could just start putting away for when she is ready to help her have a good start. Like higher schooling, or something that would benefit her.

Dear, trust me, and I'm not going into drama. You could be surprised at how many true single fathers wouldn't mind some support. Fact of the matter is that the most important part is that we have our kids, and there is a growing number of them. Fact of the matter is that I don't think I'll ever see a dime of support, so there comes the time that you don't worry about it. Due to the fact you can't count on it.
Now why does that sound like something that can go both ways here? Hmmmmm
If the other parent of their own choice went out of the picture. What in the heck can one do about it. I figure it this way. It was her loss.
Again it seems that could also go both ways.
Sometimes reality bites.

At first, the thought of having to pay him even though I have the kids more often really bothered me. He's been unemployed for a while now. So I'm just glad that I know he has money to provide for them.

Ive had my son full time since he was 14 months old and he's almost 6. I had to pay support but once she signed over custody the court asked that I not persue support since she is a college student with no job...I receive zero govt help though it would be nice. I'll work 7 days a week if I have to so my child can have the best. He's also autistic so sometimes it can be a struggle but I wouldn't change a thing. His mom doesn't even call or want to see him. I feel so broken at times because I don't know what I'm going to tell him when he asks about her or wants to see her. Just one more bump in the road to worry about.

The money never even hits my account. It gets direct deposited to him by the state every payday. I don't really even notice anymore.

After seeing this post ,I thought I would chime in.
12 years of me being a full time single parent of 4 children with 2 of my 4 now grown, my ex has seemed to avoid the gavel of the support system time and time again. after exhausted attempts to have my custody / child support enforced , she is still living a life free of the responsibility and obligation. And at the tune of $32,000.00 (and growing) in arrears/back child support , it seems I will never see it come to light. And the beat goes on.
Kinda a strange thing though,, my cousin was put in jail for non child support payment ,,and was arrested on my door step with being only $1,100.00 in arrears. Funny hows that works in the "male" sense of things in this state. HHmmmm... makes a person wonder. Then again , that's the Florida state selective enforcement system for ya.

My sperm donor was arrested at the $6k mark in MI 20yrs ago. She being a "deadbeat" parent in court among all men, the local papers dedicated a story to it. No joke.

I'm supposed to be receiving child support. The egg donor walked out on me and the kids 12 days before Christmas of 2010, to go back to Ohio and be with her first cousin that molested her when she was 14.
She doesn't work, and doesn't drive, so there is nothing the State of Florida can or will do.
I haven't received a single penny, and doubt I ever will. I have 100% custody...

My kids father owes right about 20k right now. One kid is over 18 but since he is in school full time and lives with me child support is still collected for him. My ex hates that and asks why I just tell him to contact the state about it and talk to them. He also thinks that now that the one is over 18 he shouldn't have to pay the back payments that he owes for him lmao.

Corresponding Federal & state Law states he does have to pay back support. And is to keep making the ordered payments on time, via per court support ordered payment schedule. Regardless, even if the child is an adult. And it is SUPPOSED to be enforced till it is payed off or a court removes (Amended) it from the owed support order. My ex thought the same thing in not having to pay the back support after they turned 18 , she found out different when the state suspended her state nursing , and driver's license. Now shes trying this "make a payment when I get a suspension notice" thing. If she spent as much effort in paying it instead of figuring out ways of avoiding it.. she wouldn't be 32k in the hole. (SMH)
I know I'm sticking to my gums on what my ex owes. No love lost with her when it comes to our kids and her lack of parental responsibility.

Don't worry about that, you have the best gift of life money can't buy.When the time come when he ask about his mother be honest and only use positive and kind words.This will work in your favor.

On one occasion in court the judge asked what I thought they should do with her after she was in and out of jail for non payment and was behind several thousand dollars.
I dropped the case against her. Not for her benefit, but rather for my Son's. No child should see their parent in jail. I am well aware that I could do like so many women do and use the power of the state to ruin her life but what good would it do?
I drive my Son to and from her house for visitation even though she has absolutely no parental rights to him. Personally, I would much rather have my child know his mother (even if she is a deadbeat), then deal with resentment pointed at me over why he never knew his mother.
Life is short. Make the best of a bad situation. Rely on no one. Shoulder your responsibility alone if you must.

Yep ,that sounds familiar. I agree , Florida law sucks. Gotta love that "No child left behind law" that isn't enforced unless it's child abuse related. The support part of that law,, largely ignored. Its a shame. It only becomes a factor at election time, then it fades away..again. The Politics of selective enforcement here in Florida. Go figure.
I'm so sick of it.

My sister has to pay child support.. She complains about it and it makes me mad.
Be thankful you are getting it. I raised 3 boys and didn't get a single penny because he purposely kept himself in hiding from child support so he wouldn't have to pay a penny..

I paid child support for 10 years now the boys are teenagers and step dad doesn't want the kids. So one day she calls me and says I can have them if I want. And no she isn't paying me shit. But at least I don't pay her anymore so that's good

It shouldn't matter which it is, the mother or the father, the non-custodial parent has an obligation of providing support to the parent who's taking care of their children the majority of the time, period.
If that isn't happening, they need to get in contact with a good lawyer. The courts can't do anything about it, though, unless the custodial parent HELPS to enforce a support order.

I've been raising my son all by myself without any help. I don't want no child support from my sperm donor. I gave my son my last name. My son is 13 years old & we are doing great with out sperm donors help.

I get 153 a week but she changes jobs a lot and doesn't tell the new company, but the DOR always finds out after a while and they send me the arrears (back support) that she was trying to get away with not paying. It helps. I feel a little funny getting it but its for them not me. I still feel like a man !
