Hmmm. Good thing to do them in batches then. It can get quite pricey. Did you get the 2 lyrics I sent you?

Day after day miles apart
Praying for you to soar higher
reaching your full bloom
this is just the start.

right here with you

There
by: Ken Beatty

When all is well I will be there
When you stumble and fall
I will always be there
To restore you to your true glory

When all is well you will not see me
When you soar higher than eagles
You will not know i am around
But I will always be there

Very touching. You could add a chorus and build this into a full blown song.

I wrote this one right after Mindy McCready died about her. It goes to her melody for "Ten Thousand Angels"

If Someone Really Cared"
© 2013 Mark Cote

The bird that cries in silence
do you ever hear her call
tumbling down is so slowly
no one ever sees her fall

In this inward turning struggle
a smile can hide it all
the comfort of the darkness
or climb above the wall

(bridge)I can hear her tears when she sings
and to the melody that she clings
If someone really cared
she still might be around

(chorus) And I know
she still may have stumbled
but at least
she still would be there
down this well
of sorrow she's falling
grab her heart and keep it sound
if someone really cared
she still might be around

to hard to face her demons
not strong enough to cry
every time I read the details
I just have to wonder why

lost now in the shadows
the rustle in the wind
the one that fell down here from heaven
has flown back to there again

(bridge) I can hear her tears when she sings
angel baby got her wings
if someone really cared
she still might be around

(chorus)

90 Proof-
(Amy Abernathy 2014)

You made me feel like I was a queen,
Then alcohol changed you to something mean.
Through a shadow of love I let you in.
Was good at first but that was then.

I trusted you, what was I thinking?
90 proof you’re always drinking.
Lies and full of manipulations.
You sucked me in, but had reservations.

(Chorus)
Our love was many things,
But it wasn’t 90 proof,
What a fool to trust in you,
Our love was lots of things,
But it wasn’t 90 Proof.

Liquor, whiskey, topped with a beer,
Violence came out, and you held me there.
One afternoon you took it too far.
One drunken night left a permanent scar.

Now I’m done and walking out the door.
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t take no more.
It’s time that I draw the line.
You hurt me for the last time.

(Chorus)
Our love was many things,
But it wasn’t 90 proof,
What a fool to trust in you,
Our love was lots of things,
But it wasn’t 90 Proof.

You got drunk and lost control.
Watch me now as I go.
No more, no more, I’ve had enough,
Of this twisted game you called love.

(Chorus)
Our love was many things,
But it wasn’t 90 proof,
What a fool to trust in you,
Our love was lots of things,
But it wasn’t 90 Proof.

Very touching and very close to your heart I am sure. Writing can be very therapeutic. Like talking to someone when you may have no one. It will at least allow it to come out. ((HUGS)) I have soooo many sad and melancholy ones I have written over the years I get a bit apprehensive to share them here for fear of bringing others down. But it IS art and people appreciate that.

Yeah this one is very personal, so I debated sharing one that was so personal, but it is like therapy, the more you share when bad things happen, the less power it has over you. So I shared it. I don't think your songs will bring any one down, somewhere , someone will identify with it.

Lord Reside in Me
(Amy Abernathy 2014)
When evening falls and the night closes in.
Lord Fill me up from within.
The darkness is widening, so make me see.
Oh Lord, Please come reside in me.

The sun rises and troubles I see.
Help me Jesus Decide who to be.
When People fail me and Friends Flee.
Oh take my hand and reside in me.

I fear no evil with you as my fortress.
Take away the burdens and the distress.
Lift my fears as far as I can see.
Oh dear Lord, come reside in me.

( Bridge )
Point me to your truth.
Help me to trust in you.
Let the Devil’s shadows Flee.
In this life lord, come reside in me.

(Chorus)
Oh Lord Come Reside in me.
Let me have the Victory.
Oh Lord Come reside in me.

Good one. Yes, With the power of expressing the pain and ones who hurt us it can be said we have a "license to quill". I have used that line for a song title. Also told some at work don't tick me off or I will write a song about you. I have written many about ones at work and work as well. But never give names. So it can be a useful tool when more drastic means are not suitable. LOL Look at how Taylor Swift uses it.

Love Is A Bridge- CC 12/26/2010
(Amy Abernathy 2010)

You see that child without food to eat,
You walk on by, you walk on by.
You’re too caught up in your own little world,
To see that kid is in need.
A little time and a tender heart,
Could give that child a brand new start.
You can touch someone’s heart,
With just a little love.
( Chorus)
Because……
Love is a bridge, Love is a bridge, love is a bridge
To a heart. Love is a highway to a brand new start.
Love is a bridge that connects our minds,
Love is patient, love is kind.

A lady is sad because her husband is gone:
He fought that cancer for oh so long.
She needs someone to show they care,
Someone to talk to, and just be there.
You can say it’s much too much,
Or you can reach and show her love.
A helping hand is sent from up above.
We can touch a life with a little touch.
(Chorus)
Because……
Love is a bridge, Love is a bridge, love is a bridge
To a heart. Love is a highway to a brand new start.
Love is a bridge that connects our minds,
Love is patient, love is kind.

A young family lost their home,
Hurricane came and everything’s gone.
They sit in a shelter wondering what to do.
Then people brought food and a little tenderness too.
We can help if we open our hearts:
We just got to do our part.
Show some love to someone today;
It might make you have a sunny day.
(Chorus)
Because……
Love is a bridge, Love is a bridge, love is a bridge
To a heart. Love is a highway to a brand new start.
Love is a bridge that connects our minds,
Love is patient, love is kind.
(Outro)
The things you give, it all comes back,
It may give our heart what it lacks.
Take some time and tell them you care,
Open your eyes and be aware.

Nicely done. Songs of inspiration I have found are like taking the therapy writing gives us and projecting it outward. seeing others going through things and writing about that as well.

Beerdrops In Her Wine"

© 2011 Mark Cote

perfume and pearls stepped out of the night
something felt wrong something felt right
the touch of her hand that look in her eye
sparkles of love dancing in the wine

she touched a part of me I never knew
and I know she was feeling it too
music played our hearts moved in time
until the day when we spilled the wine

(chorus) line 'em up and send 'em down
another day another town
though she is teardrops in my eyes
I am just beerdrops in her wine

with each tear I drink her memory
tried and I tried but she could never see
what about those feelings she tries to hide
or was I just beerdrops in her wine

(chorus)

"If Fantasies Came True"

© 2014 Mark Cote

What would you do if fantasies came true
the one about me
the one about you
what would you do

what if we talk of bigger things
how we change our world
and what it brings
comes back to you
and to me too

(chorus) well I could run around the world
for a million years
but in my dreams
you are always here
by my side
along for the ride
you're a dream come true
yeah, if fantasies came true

what would you do for a sleepless night
making love to you
holding me so tight
what would you do

just a little dream
a fantasy I have
if it makes you smile
it makes me glad
and I hope you do
yeah, I hope you do

(chorus)
(instrumental)

just a little dream
a fantasy I have
if it makes you smile
it makes me glad
and I hope you do
yeah, I hope you do

Here is one alot will relate to. it's about someone who will not let go, they messed up bad and the person does not want to have anything to do with them.

We’re not even Friends
(Amy Abernathy 2014)

I’m closing the door,
We’re not in love anymore.
Remember what we were.
Before you slept with her.

(Chorus)
We’re not going to be,
Like we used to be.
We’re not even friends.
I want to be clear,
This ends right here.
We’re not even friends.

Now you’re pretending,
That we’re not ending,
But we’ve faded away,
Like yesterday. Ohhh

(Chorus)
We’re not going to be,
Like we used to be.
We’re not even friends.
I want to be clear,
This ends right here.
We’re not even friends.

(Bridge)
I forgave you and cried,
I pleaded and tried,
To get you to see
You can’t go back in time,
You’re not changing my mind.
We are not like we used to be.

(Chorus)
We’re not going to be,
Like we used to be.
We’re not even friends.
I want to be clear,
This ends right here.
We’re not even friends.

I actually had a kind of Alan Jackson country style in mind at the time of it's conception. Though another genre would be fine. Be interesting to hear it as pop. Someone call Miley up.

Here's one a bit more creative of mine.

"Crystal Ball Blue"

© 2009 Mark Cote

warm breeze blows through my onyx night
flowing rainbow colors by morning light
as I look up it is you that I see
smiling sweetly back at me

(chorus) looking in your eyes
I want to dream the dream you visualize
crystal ball blue you see so far
from inside my heart to the shooting stars
crystal ball blue the dreamer in you
awakened me and pulled me through

on a winged unicorn Einstein's his name
no wonder your dreams are never the same
dreams are relative to you and I
painted by different clouds in our sky
(chorus)

soft as a feather your voice rings
in harmony with you a bluebird sings.
caring and grace of angelic form
descended to earth to keep hearts warm
(chorus)

I was inspired for this one by an online friend who is a musician, ( as is her whole family). I have never met her but she used to have a horse named Einstein. I can get inspired to write something like this even if I am not with the person. I just see so much depicting material and have to gather it.

Staying Power
(Amy Abernathy 2014)

Sitting on the porch on the bottom stair,
Smell of a storm brewing in the air.
I don’t want to be on lonely street.
Wish we could talk with some honesty.

I needed you to put my mind at ease,
Leave no doubt that I can see.
The dark shadows came creeping in,
leaving darkness for my heart to live in.

(Chorus)
All we need is a little Staying power,
Pray to God in our darkest hour.
Oh, don’t give up on me.
Baby don’t give up on me.
Ohhhh Ohhh Can't you see,
We just need some staying power.

I’m choked up because I’ve been replaced.
It’s funny how my thoughts have been retraced.
For what seems like centuries you haven’t been around.
Time spent away from you is getting me down.

Baby our break up was a catastrophe,
I’d give anything if you’d come back to me.
I really think I made a mistake.
My hearts locked up and in chains.

(Chorus)
All we need is a little Staying power,
Pray to God in our darkest hour.
Oh, don’t give up on me.
Baby don’t give up on me.
We Just need some staying power.
(Bridge)
Yeah, she doesn’t know you,
The way I do.
Let’s give it a chance and see it through.
(Chorus)
All we need is a little Staying power,
Pray to God in our darkest hour.
Oh ,don’t give up on me.
Baby don’t give up on me.

Finally- by Amy Abernathy
I’m never one to be amazed by star filled skies
what’s the blue yonder if there's nobody to share the night.
In the bewitching hour, my world was sunny and bright
I’m here breathless and completely captivated by your light.
(Chorus)
Finally, finally, my true love has come to me. My solitary life is long gone, my loneliness set free. Finally the wild blue yonder is bright again; my heart is filled with love from within, finally.

I find colors in the rainbow, all because of you.
You are a fantasy that somehow has come true.
Fireworks and a source of inspiration,
The lord blessed me with Love and adoration.
(Chorus)
Finally, finally, my true love has come to me. My solitary life is long gone, my loneliness set free. Finally the wild blue yonder is bright again; my heart is filled with love from within, finally.
(Bridge)
Now my lonely days are set free and you are home here with me. Finally.
(chorus)
Finally, finally, my true love has come to me. My solitary life is long gone, my loneliness set free. Finally the wild blue yonder is bright again; my heart is filled with love from within, finally.

Beautifully written Amy.

Here is one of the 2 I wrote for a local musician's debut CD.

"It's All You"
© 2010 Mark Cote

Running through the night
running through a dream
opened up my eyes
to forever it seems

her smiling eyes
hypnotize
brought me to a world
that I realize

just one touch
just one kiss
now I know
what I had missed

(chorus) No matter where I go
no matter what I do
you know in my heart
I think of you
You, you, you, you ( x2)
(Guitar solo)

Jungle book world
to strawberry sky
don't ask me how
don't know why

I grew into you
you grew into me
isn't that how
it is meant to be
(chorus)
(guitar solo)

the claws of doom
were in my mind
look in my heart
and you will find

the firefly
that lights my night
the girl with the dream
and eyes so bright
(chorus)
(guitar solo)

So let the world
keep spinning 'round
you've turned my world
upside down

Dancing in the rain
'cause I see the light
fall in love with you
girl I just might
(chorus)
(guitar solo)

That one would be really easy to sing. Do you have a copy of the song with the melody?

He was hard to deal with. He sang it different than how I was intending it. Plus VERY off key. Tough to listen to his "singing". But the music is his and the recording is as well. I only wrote the lyrics.

Yeah some of those guys can be, some can play the guitar but can't sing A lot think they are better than they are.

True. He had an inflated ego. I have trouble working with someone like that.

I had a cowriter like that, I had no input on the song, they were my lyrics, so I felt like It should go the way I wanted a little. I can compromise but I feel it needs to be both ways. We did not work out, I wanted more of a country sound. I have found a few, I hope to have a few put to music.

Here is one I wrote simply about a bunny's perspective on life.

"Penelope's Eyes"

© 2013 Mark Cote

Blue bunny dreams
are as real as they seem
they come without warning or thought

and under the thunder
she'll sit and she'll wonder
how strawberries taste in the rain

looking around
absorbing the sounds
as night time wakes up to the day

while some see the light
as shining too bright
and the dark is too hard on their eyes

Penelope wanders along

(chorus) life is so simple
Penelope's eyes
each waking day
another surprise
look at the wonder
Penelope's eyes
just like a child
you realize
there's more to life
in Penelope's eyes

the shapes of the clouds
form animal mounds
she casually lays in the grass

flower-filled air
surrounds everywhere
the hour hand rolls on too fast

(chorus)

what can it be
what is it that she sees?

(chorus)

I have never co-written with anyone before. The closest I came was finishing up a surf song for a guy. "Surf City Blues". He had recorded him doing a rough demo of what he had so far. But he had all the music. So I finished out the lyrics for him.

I actually wrote it about a musician's bunny rabbit. She had shared pic of Penelope online and The idea occurred to me. I wonder how she sees the world? And a song was born.

"Conversational Love"

© 2011 Mark Cote

Two steps under the finish line
what I find there is just, a bit, hard to define
didn't want to see
looked too much like me

feel the world through hands invisible
but I dream of a girl so kissable
we could talk for days
in so many ways

(chorus) tired of feeling a lone emotion
tired of floating out on the ocean
don't want to gaze up at the stars
wonder where on earth you are
don't want a love observational
just want a conversational
conversational love

my heart knows the beat of a melody
keep the tempo
share a rhyme with me girl
wherever you are
whenever you are
for me girl

(chorus)

Here is my attempt to do one from a guys perspective, It's about Georgia life.

Southern Boy At Heart
(Amy Abernathy 2014)

A few fellows in a top notch ride,
Idle chatter and wasting time.
Flirting with the hottie in the pickup truck.
George straight all cranked up.
Lots of country roads on the country side.
Traveling North on highway 75.
Miles and miles of country roads.
Where we’ll end up, nobody knows.
Fishing, the brave’s games, or the varsity.
North of Atlanta is where you’ll find me.

(Chorus)
I may be from the big city,
But I’m a southern boy at heart,
I feel at home in the country,
Cuz I’m a southern boy at heart.

Headed to the braves game,
Hope it don’t start to rain,
So we can do the tomahawk chop,
Good times going nonstop.
Then go for a ride in the pickup truck,
My truck is built Ford tuff.
Going down to the favorite mud hole,
Bring a cold drink and our fishing poles.
Burgers on the grill and apple pie.
Shooting the breeze and watching fireflies.

(Chorus)
I may be from the big city,
But I’m a southern boy at heart,
I feel at home in the country,
Cruz I’m a southern boy at heart.

I love the small town country life,
Church on Sundays and family at night...
We still pray and that’s ok.
We work hard and love to play.
Friday night spent with friends,
Camping out to the night’s end.
Hanging out since the day began.
Next week we’ll do it again.
Plenty of time to sit and fish,
Have any scenery that we wish.

(Chorus)
I may be from the big city,
But I’m a southern boy at heart,
I feel at home in the country,
Cuz I’m a southern boy at heart.
(Bridge)

It’s close to the city,
But quieted way way down.
Wouldn’t go back,
Cuz I’m a country boy now.

(Chorus)
I may be from the big city,
But I’m a southern boy at heart,
I feel at home in the country,
Cuz I’m a southern boy at heart.

Southern Boy At Heart
(Amy Abernathy 2014)

I have found writing from a different person's perspective both challenging and interesting. I have tried one from a ladies perspective but can't find it just yet. But found this one about a guy who loves his beer. Still a different perspective than me. Just something simple and fun. I will share something very creatively written after you reply.

"Beer Can Man"

© 2009 Mark Cote

I love my horse
I love my wife
I work for the man
this is my life

I drink beer
I like to fight
I know it's not right
but I curse the night

(chorus) This is what I am, I'm a beer can man
I live for the minute
never have a plan
pop the top, chug it down
party people all around
never have a plan
hey baby I'm a beer can man

I like it loud
I like it rough
Turn it up man
I can't get enough

if she don't bite
she ain't good for me
by morning light guess what I'll see
(chorus)

I drink beer
I like to fight
I know it's not right
but I curses the night

I like it loud
I like it rough
Turn it up man
I can't get enough
(chorus)

"Watercolor Mind"

© 2010 Mark Cote

from pigmented eyes, Bermuda green
a palette of all that is you
raspberry lips with a cellophane sheen
now kiss somebody new

you brushed my heart in bristling hues
two hearts tangled in rhyme
did I stir passion in you
or will pages just fall out of time

(chorus) and when your Monet is on display
will my memory wash away
like paint down the drain..
will my colors just fade behind
in your watercolors
in your watercolor mind

pastel skies run deep sea blue
our memory is evergreen
the love that I found in the you that I knew
from my night to my day in between

wanderlust dream leading you on
I will not stand in your way
little bird can't fly like a swan
and I'll fly with you some day

(chorus)
(instrumental)

Quote from 121gaonmymind:

Thank you Amy.

"The Girl With The Velcro Heart"
© 2012 Mark Cote

petal soft smile sure get's our attention
daydream eyes look my direction
with all the light of who you are
everyone is drawn to her velcro heart

seeing suntan scenes in my thoughts of you
it's a mystery do you see it too
make a wish among the stars
or a loop in her velcro heart

(chorus) Oh love...
how does she do it
oh love...
I think you knew it
she could stick to you
she could stick to me
searching for
her meant to be
pretty flower in the park
The girl with the velcro heart

dancing around with such perfection
sweet and pure no deception
she is loved by near or by far
we all long for her velcro heart

(chorus)

Yes, up to 572 now. So I could go on and on.... here is one about our society..

"Cardboard towers"

© 2013 Mark Cote

lying on the floor with scores of yesterday
turtle paced hours and flip-book days

silver-threaded father time
what is it that you design
with visions seen through past's eyes
how do you see what tomorrow lies

(chorus) tell me tell me
what's the plan
for simple sons of prophets
and simple sons of man
tell me tell me
where will it lead
from painted cardboard towers
and blindfolded roads of greed

until the dawn of morning light
the flower doesn't know if it is right
the winding river never knows
in the moment she only flows

(chorus)
(instrumental)

disrespectful respectable job
tailor-made penguin is still a slob
when thoughts are smiles left far behind
life is sweet not the wine

(chorus)
