The one that gets the kids is the one that gets the better deal. You can get with someone new anytime you want. Most people don't even wait for the divorce to be final.

Look at that show Two and a Half Men and how the character Allan Harper got screwed over in his divorce. That will show you how men are affected as compared to women! Women always seem to have the upper hand in divorces.

damn ok...it varies from state to state AND the reasons for the divorce.

who is more affected by divorce the one who file a divorce or the one who isnt ?
My lawyer told me "she who files 'wins'" whatever that meant..because it's a LOSE/LOSE situation..but I'd say the person who's "worse" in the eyes of the judge doesn't fair as well.

and what is alimony ?
Some states have it..some don't, it's where one spouse (and it works both ways these days btw, whoever made the most money, or was out working if the other was taking care of the children) pays a "spousal support" until they remarry or the children are over 18, or whatever is allowed by the state and is in the divorce decree.

is that compulsory or not ? it's not unless one files for it and it's allowed in that state.

how many months or years a divorcee can married again ? as soon as the ink is dry in Texas.

or have a relationship ? while still married ...it's preferred that the at least separation papers are file..or you're going to come off as a cheater in court. But at least in Texas there's no restriction to a relationship to my knowledge. It's just ill advised.

looking at a recently divorced or one going through a divorce? see "transitional relationship" not a good person to be if you're looking for something long term.

Its an individual thing....some of either gender can take it harder than others.

in general men fall deeper than women, but sometimes women can take things harder.

So there is no one set answer.

Technically speaking...thou society has changed in its views of women....being independant, etc, etc.

and most are self supporting....but old time antiquated divorce laws have not kept up with the times.

Back in the old days, even if everything was her fault...she could soak him for more per month than he made, because society looked at women as just above a child...as much as I hate to say that.

My Grandmother became a stock broker for Payne Webber and was successful and started there back in the late 40's...disproving that theory...but its just how the times were.

I suppose these days most could do the same thing.....if they wanted to....but many choose just to get out of the marriage, and pronto...and side step all that court time to just get free again.

There are things disturbing to men that a wife can do....but so far the courts and society don't recognise many of these things as reasoning for him winning out....and lay the...your a man, you should be able to take it on him.

As far as I know...as soon as the divorce is final....they are free to do whatever.

but I think its better they get their shit together first.

not if you have kids or disputes...every thing that comes up and you might have to go back to Family Court that granted the divorce to resolve.

if you've got a non disputed no property/kids divorce..Reno, Bahamas, etc, work just fine.

What happens when 2 men who are married to each other get divorced?

Or what happens when 2 women who are married to each other get divorced?

Now that gay marriage is legal in many parts of the United States, we will start to see gay divorces and lesbian divorces. How will those play out? Who will have the upper hand in the divorce proceedings? The top or the bottom? The bully dyke or the fem?

Interesting how people focus on the material as a measure of loss/gain...

When I divorced the 'stuff' was the last thing that mattered.

But it's not fair when the woman gets the house, half the money in the savings account, etc.!

That's probably why I've never married yet. It semms like a such a gamble because 60 percent of all marriages in America end in divorce!

Typically, the woman only gets the house until the kids are grown, then the house is either sold and each gets half, or the one living in the house pays the other half the fair market value of the home.

Cawk, I'm glad you said 'people'..............

I hear men whining about losing everything, meaning possessions, I never hear in these threads the men talk about losing their wife or kids in a divorce.

And women, for the most part, are only commenting in defense of the 'ALL men lose everything' bullshit statements.

no it's a lose/lose even if it's the best solution...someone you'd planned on spending the rest of your life with you're not...and you mourn that loss.(hopefully)

not a trivial thing..or it shouldn't be at least.

now im really starting to be enlightened really ! thanks !

Sure you have, I myself have posted in the past my greatest regret was the failure of my first marriage and the hurt to her I caused.

Stuff is stuff and can be replaced...you can't ever replace people.

Look at all the women who have "divorce parties" where male strippers dance for them and perform other "acts" for their pleasure! Women are celebrating their divorices at those divorce parties because they're making out financially.....using their ex-husband's money to stuff into the g-strings of hot, beefy male strippers!!!!!

nope im really curious and intrigue ,,,coz here in our country people were insisting our government to approved the divorce bill here ,,,which the church is really against it ...

You can be divorced in the eyes of your government but not in the eyes of the Catholic Church. Where you are, you may or may not be able to seek an annulment of the marriage, which in many places satisfies the church.
