I am offering my services to those here in the 40's who need a little help understanding all of this new technology stuff that is out. And hey, it's free! No e-gifts required...
There is so much that has been added to our everyday things that some things can be confusing. Part of my job is to stay up to date with it all, and I seem to truly learn something every day.

Samsung phones overall are really nice, and from what I have seen, a LOT of people like them. I was looking at getting one myself (the phone carrier I have only goes up to the S3) but the opportunity disappeared quick. The one I settled for (an LG) works just as well as a Samsung. I am still finding all of the stuff that KitKat (Android 4.4) can do...and Lollipop (Android 5.0) is right around the corner.
The S5 looks like not much of an upgrade from the S4...there is a biometric sensor on it, though, which some may find useful...

If your phone below a s4 it's worth the upgrade. if not its more like a s4 plus not worth the investment.

If your phone can act as a hotspot, then that is the way to do it. My first one had the capability but I never activated it. Be mindful that if you use the phone as a hotspot, there may be extra charges involved.

It's older...but still good tech wise...and it can be upgraded (if not already) for KitKat.
There are certain models that have certain things added or removed. Wikipedia has a good guide...including the models specific to a carrier:

Possible 'chatting' detected. You have already posted in this thread recently. Please wait for some other people to reply before posting in this thread again, or wait like an hour or so, whichever comes first. Sorry for the inconvenience.
This message might annoy you a bit, however we want to make sure more than a couple of people get a chance to respond in a thread. The 'chat' forums and groups don't have this restriction, only a few forums actually have it. You will almost never get this message if you post thoughtful, on-topic replies.

You should be able to type a bracket on the screen ("[", "]"). It should be on your onscreen keyboard, on one of the extra character screens.
For doing images in a forum post, you have to have "[ img ]" at the beginning of the link and "[ /img ]" at the end (without the quotations, I had to enter them to prevent it from displaying an error. I also had to enter an extra space before and after to display it.
So here's how you display an image in the forum post:
Go to a website that has images, for example Google Images, and search for images for a particular subject (like Tony Romo memes) . Tap on one of the images, then press and hold for a few secs, then a menu comes up.
Choose "copy link url"
Then go to the forum in which you want to post the image.
Type "[" then "img" then "]"
Right after the end bracket, press on the screen and hold for a few seconds until "paste" appears. Tap "paste", and the image link will show.
Right after this (no spaces), type "[" then "/" then "img" then "]".
Hit return.
Choose "Preview" at the bottom of the post to see how it displays. If it displays the picture, type "post".
