I grew up in Vegas and have always heard about the New Years Eve party on Freemont Street. I couldn't ever go because I was not 18, Vegas had a curfew for under 18. When I turned 18 and New Years came around I wanted to go. I was at my girlfriends house New Years Eve and was begging her to go but she refused over and over. I was determined to go so I left her house. As I was approaching my car I ran into 2 girls and a guy walking by. I asked if they wanted to go downtown for New Years and they said "hell yes!".
One of the girls wanted to change clothes so I drove them to her house. For some reason she wanted to take her car, told me to drive. We get downtown and there in NOWHERE to park, drive around for what seems an hour and finally park. Get downtown to the party and OMG! Remember Vegas is second to NYC so it is insane! There were so many people. I don't know why the businesses were open because they couldn't control the crowds. I walked into a store and grabbed 4 beers and just walked out, there were too many people for anyone to even notice! I am not proud of it but it was the reality.
So the countdown gets to the final seconds and "HAPPY NEW YEAR!" and the fireworks and confetti are going on. Titty's flashing everywhere and you could walk up to any lady and say Happy New Year and get a kiss, a** pinch and a feel up, it was one HELL of an experience for an 18 year old.
Things settled down and I regrouped with the 2 chicks and dude. We decided to call it a night, it was late anyway. She has me drive again. We get stopped at a red light and everybody starts making out. Somehow during the make out the car gets put in reverse and I didn't know it. The light turned green but I didn't know until somebody honked. I looked up and saw the green so I mashed the gas and BAM!! I smashed the car behind me! OH SHIT! I slammed it into drive and hauled a** right up on the interstate! I looked in my (her) mirror as I pulled off and saw steam spewing out of this dudes car and he was getting out. I was GONE! Not good I know but I was young and if he got the plate number, it was her car! We got to her house, said goodbyes and I got in my car and went home. Never saw or heard from them again, never exchanged numbers. Oh what a night!!
Went to New Years the next few times but never as fun as that night! Now I live in boring a** Georgia! Probably a good thing!

I went there when I was 20 and the drinking age was 21....still a good time.
This story sounds like you had a great time.
The hit and run portion strikes me as odd...obvious the young chick didn't even care about her car. Hmmm.

Her car was an old steel clunker, the car I hit was a fiberglass sportscar.

I know right! I say that now too but at the age of 18 I would do that kind of stuff too without even thinking twice about it. It was usually with friends of friends or someone I barely knew if I did it but not complete strangers unless I had at least one close friend with me.

A total lie. How'd you know they got the license plate number if you never talked to her again? For a fake story, it sure was boring. Blow your brains out.

Agree Ms. Holland. I remember racing motorcycles on a 45 M.P.H. street at over 100 MPH. Many times I think, all it would have taken is a car to pull out 1/2 mile down the road and BAM!

Well I can remember when I was about 9. I had to cross these railroad tracks that were down in a ravine to get back and forth from school.
For some reason when a train was coming I raced to get across those tracks and barely got missed.
I still don't know what possessed me to do something that stupid.
Oh come to think of it that was in Grovetwon, Ga.
Don't know if that is close to where you live at or not now. My dad was stationed at Fort Gordon at the time.

Yes it is. Seems like it was about half an hour away or so. I wish I could go back and see how much the place has changed since I have been there.
