I have to admit that I give more concern about what my dog eats more often than me!
I was guilty of reading the labels of all of the dry foods but I missed the other
stuff. Like canned foods and treats. I wonder why people buy their pets food from
a grocery store??????? Have you ever seen whats in that crap?????
I no longer give him those treats.

Yes, I do. I also check my foods on Dog food Advisor. You can see the ratings of all the foods. They also give recall alerts on dog foods and treats.

Around 2002 I did a term paper for one of my nursing classes on "Canine's & Seizures".
I received the top grade for the class and the instructor was amazed at what she found out from my paper. Guess how most of the pet food companies get our pets to eat their food? Ever wondered about "crude fats" ? They come from those big trash containers behind restaurants that sit there rotting ! It is mixed in with the "cheap" corn and things the kibble is made of. Not all pet food companies do this... you get what you pay for. The results of cheap = poor health for our family pets.

Had some of the finest bird dogs in the world and they got the cheapest dog food I could find and any anything I could drag home from my adventures, gator carcases to shrimp heads, and sometimes it took them weeks to finish it all....do not think rotten is a problem to dogs digestive systems. My moms poodle would even get sick when we gave it processed beef instead of venison and other wild meats. What are YOU eating from the stores??

They also add sugar to the mix. dogs love sweet tasting foods.
Also wheat is used in many can and dry foods.
Dogs should never eat grains.

I just buried my dog Brutus. I was planning on going to the store and picking up a
package of ground meat then I was going to order a bag of his food from Petflow.
now I am stuck with half a 15# bag of dry food left.

You still have to watch carefully- although they claim "made in America" you need to be sure of where the ingredients come from. Sometimes it's made in America with ingredients from somewhere else. Just sayin'

No problem. I was hoping you knew I meant no harm, only (hopefully helpful) advice for your pets safety. I have pets of my own and guard them to the best of my ability. One is my Service dog, so I take no chances.
I probably should be more meticulous about my own food

Ash content . 2.5 is what i stick with and no more than 3.0 in canned cat food.
