I'd be wondering, if I were you, more along the lines of why the women you choose want you to keep pursuing them. Now, if you really mean that they don't want to be taken for granted and would like to still be thought of as special in your life, then maybe you need to be thinking about why you don't think of them as important to you and take them for granted.

I would take the feeling that I have to pursue someone... as a sign that maybe the person I liked wasn't interested in a relationship with me. Sometimes people will date you and they like you as a person... but they aren't totally sure about you as a relationship partner. And... they aren't the type to be upfront and honest with you and tell you to get lost. Sometimes they don't even know what they want. Should you stay? Should you go? You can waste a lot of time on a person like this because they will give you mixed signals. Look for someone who will meet you half-way and work with you. It should be more like dancing than chasing. Anything less is not a relationship.
