I don't at all, yet I always manage to date them. It doesn't usually emerge until about a month in. It's annoying, I'm very friendly to both men and women and constantly catch hell for it. Blah!

As with most things it depends.

Does he proudly wink, lick his lips and say " yep that's MY ass"...

or

does he get jealous and try to control me...

The first option makes me smile and feel proud. The second one bores me and tells me he has issues.

In regards to a woman.

No

I would have no problem being responsible or faithful in my relationship. Just as I would want the woman I am with to feel like she can still be herself so do I still want to be myself. I have no time for micro-managing one way or the other.

Then again I would never be with a woman in which I see early signs of possessiveness. And I would never(or should I say never again)be with a woman in which I see early signs of infidelity in order for me not to be tempted to be possessive.

I would just want a woman who knows how much I Love her and she honors it in her daily coming ins and going outs just as I would do the same for her.

Hopefully that was sort of on topic. Lol

If I hate a possessive woman, I can only imagine a woman would hate a possessive man.

No, they're a pain in the a** trying to control everyone and threatening you all the time. If you can dig it fine, but I have a dispatcher for that kind of abuse and lots of macho guys in the office trying to get everyone fired just because they can or think they can. It's the only way they can get respect.

Still unmarried and single at 30, OP. Unless you let a man act like a man you'll never be happily married and if you do marry you'll surely divorce. No man wants to cow tow to some arrogant feminist. Good luck with that attitude, OP!

possessive and being treated like a possession are two different things, not dependent on each other.

which one are we talking about?

a possessive man tries to control your schedule, dictate who you can and cannot be friends with and socialize with, he can often accuse you of cheating, he will want all your plans to involve him.

being treated like a possession is a guy who treats you like a placeholder. you are a part of his life, but only necessary when it's convenient for him. he may want you to uphold a certain image or wear certain clothing, to be his arm candy, but as far as having a real interactive relationship with an emotional connection, this is not it.

Well, I for one am not possessive, any woman I am with is free to leave any time she wants. She just needs to know that it is a one way trip. She leaves, she does not come back.

Well--- actually some people like the role of being possessed. They seek it out and are attracted to those who control them. This gives a feeling of security. It is only when they become their true individual expression that they will feel restricted and no longer want or need the control. They will want freedom. People who act possessive are insecure, and this is their way of shoring themselves up. A mature confident person will not want to control anybody.

My experience with possessive men are they only become that way when they see another guy is in the picture. They don't like me and have made it clear that I'm friendzoned, but when I accept the place they put me in and move on to someone else suddenly I'm theirs and no one else's.

I don't know how I feel about possessive men. I think the novelty of that type of guy wears off fast, so it's a no for me.

"Possessive" stuff is a little more complicated than the common complaints about it let on.

Most of all, being possessive often gets confused with caring, with desire, and most of all, with genuine personal strength. Lots of people think at first that it's "romantic" that the person they are with constantly fights to be their sole focus, and only after a while, realize that it's a one-way-street deal.

Now that being "possessive" has been socio-politicized, lots of people also confuse it in the other direction, and accuse people of it when it isn't happening at all. Sometimes when a guy appears to want you to behave more like you actually want his company in particular, it's not "possessiveness," it's just that he wants to have a one-on-one relationship with you, rather than to hire on as your butler.

you mistake the word possessive for the word controlling. Few people like a controlling person, but do you want a man that wants to share you with his friends, so everyone gets a turn?

To me, a tad bit of possessive, seems endearing & cute when you're still in the
honeymoon stage of a relationship. If/when it becomes more than this... like
"sleeping with the enemy" type of behavior, I'm hasta luego!!

Here's a thought....

No one likes to be treated like a possession in a relationship.
So it's best to be loving and give each other their freedom, and they can do as they wish......no problem.

However don't use that as an excuse to forget about them...and run around acting like a slut, cause you assume they will always be there for you regardless.
Don't make them regret being so open.
