but as for serving others..I do it all the time..I dunno about pulling their chairs..but making plates, bringing drinks (although I do prefer just to do a buffet line) but I do it with my family and my guy..and I've not carried a grocery bag or done another thing like that since we started living together and I"m fine with that. It's a gratitude not a subservient vibe/treatment I get from doing it.
I do a lot of family and friend gatherings and am the "hostess with the mostest" (as a friend calls it)
I call it good manners and good ole Southern hospitality.

If I offered the invite to my place? I will supply his favorite beverage, will ask if he
would like for me to pick up a movie of his choice, will cook a dish, and
I will serve him as well. If I have invited him into my home, it means I like
him and do not mind spoiling him a bit and making him comfortable.

I like both, I truly enjoy catering to the people in my life that I care the most about and that definitely includes the man in my life.
I also love it when he caters to my needs.
It's not the acts that would make me feel subservient, only someone with a bad attitude and those aren't the types of people I have in my life.
