I had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast, and one waffle with some honey on it. Syrup has too much sugar in it for me (trying to watch sugar intake).

Trying to cut back on sodas. Limiting myself to only one a day now. Pepsi Next is also helping me out. It's hard, though, because I love Coca Cola so very very much!

I know what you're facing ahleah. I gave up Dr. Peppers cold turkey about 6 years ago, and I have not had a soda of any kind since. I thought it would be hell as I was so "addicted" to those Dr. Peppers. Sometimes drinking 4 or so a day. But surprisingly (for me at least), I have/had no real craving or caffeine withdrawal to speak of. Giving it up made me feel great. No empty calories like before, and drinking more water was so much better for me too.

Good Luck!

I'm still sweating it put on an elliptical four times a week and walking/running my dog most mornings. And while I don't eat badly, I love good food. Not willing to go overboard on healthy eating.

Sounds good Danny. I like the elliptical too. I was doing that and swimming but figured out doing both was a little too much, and took too much time too. I miss my "pup" Alex. I call him a pup to me, but he lived to 18 yrs old before I had to have him put down. If you are really "running" with your dog, that is great. LOL, IF I tried to run now I think thinks might start to fall off. I have bad knees from playing football and dirt bike racing, so not too keen on things that put a lot of stress on the knees.

I agree with you that one can go overboard on "healthy eating". I still love GOOD food, but just in moderation, and in quality.

OT... I fell off a little about 3 days ago when I broke down and had a Tropical Blizzard from DQ. Mmmmmmmm It was good.

Wow. 2 hours a day is pretty good. We usually walk about 3+ miles in one hour. I enjoy the walks with my bud. A chance to enjoy the company and the stars at night. (usually walk at night)

I say walk/run because we run some and then he wants to stop and smell the roses, so to speak. I know what you know about the knees and the pounding. If I tried to run three miles a day, they'd break down pretty fast. So it's just in short bursts. That's why I prefer the elliptical, anyway. Lower impact.

I'm trying to eat better and be more active. I started the run/walk thing and it's been good. I'm motivated. I want to start biking because i know I can't keep doing that everyday. It isn't good for my knees.

I haven't lost much weight but I feel the difference in my clothes.

I still have my fat girl binge moments but it's not nearly as bad as before.

I walked the Race For The Cure today. I'm pretty proud of myself.

@danny... Hey, IF you run AT ALL, you're doing better than me. LOL I know what you mean about the elliptical, I like it too for how smooth/low impact it is.

@Jen... WAY to GO!!! And I understand the occasional binges (why I had a Blizzard from DQ about a week ago). I think you need to allow yourself some of that, otherwise it all gets old quick.

@ahleah... the fruit vs. candy/cake/etc. is a good idea. It satisfies somewhat the sweet tooth desires but is better for you. BUT... those cakes/pies/etc... STILL look soooo tempting.

@hitz... GAIN WEIGHT!?!?!?!?!?! GAIN!?!?!?!? LOL. Heck follow me around and do what I do and you're SURE to gain weight. LOL

@Star.... LOL.. Love it! The Bad me is winning against the Good me it seems too. Stress is a major contributor to the bad eating, not exercising, etc. Even though the exercise helps the stress, you still do not feel like doing it when you're stressed. I know that well.

Fantastic thread.

It's been a long time since I've post in state chat.

I no longer drink sodas either. I have been doing natural juicing. Drinking a lot of plain water or with lemon.

Leaning more and more with a raw/plant based eating lifestyle. Raw fruits and vegetables. Occasional chicken, fish, not red meat.

I need to get to exercising again. Had stopped for a year due to painful knees but I'm starting to feel better so will be easing back into it again.

Rrr yup I have a lot of stress right now. And I have to stop and tell myself to stand back and not take on other peoples worries. I walk a lot at work during lunch time, Las Colinas is sooo purdy! But the long drive home at the end of the day undoes me. Perhaps I should Learn a foreign language while I'm stuck in traffic?

@txcountry... I understand being 100% involved with your kiddos. I was too while they were young. But it's important to foster your own routines, etc... perhaps involving them too. You will teach them the importance of taking care of themselves.

@anywhere... Thanks! And as Danny said, there are low impact exercises available. I know, I look for them, since I have bad knees from playing football and racing dirt bikes. (motocross). Try swimming if you like it... great exercise and minimal if any impact on knees.

@star... I used to work in Las Colinas a while back. Like you, loved the area. And yes, learning another language would be Great for the drive home.

Diet is tough for me. So many years of eating bad....

I have been trying very hard to eat better with most meals. It's crazy hard but the longer I go without the junk it's been easier to say no. I haven't completely given it all up and I don't think I want to. I'm at a good place right now....

I started Golds today. I feel a great sense of accomplishment already.

I eat almonds (plain), or walnuts (high in Omega 3). Nuts in general are great choices, but they are High in calories. Unfortunately, I need to learn MODERATION (LOL... should be a 4 letter word in my book). I eat TOO MUCH! I got to start counting the calories and QUITTING when I read the 1200 or so calories a day... while continuing my exercise regiment.

@Jen... Yeah, you're probably right about the calories. I seem to be eating MORE than 1200 a day.

@Leah... I know what you mean about jogging. I used to run all the time, but not no more. Not sure my knees would do well. But we will see. I am doing an hour on the elliptical and an hour of swimming, and eating Vegan now... so everything is starting to feel SO much better. MUCH more energy. After the 2 hours... I am still thinking about going to the stair stepper or something.

Fast walking is a great start! Good Luck!

OT... 3rd day of eating Vegan and already feeling better, and seem to be slimming, especially around the waist. Was not fat but getting more definition now. Surprisingly, it has not been hard (Vegan) yet. Talk to me after going out to eat with my buds on the weekend though.

Down to 213. Did a really heavy workout yesterday. Added some more weight training. Trying to work on back and core more in addition to swimming/elliptical. Man I soooo want to hit the one-wonders (less than 200 lbs.)
