Except read what you wrote, you tried to make a comparison to a rape, as though that would prove this guy was just carrying a lot of cash because he just did that kind of stuff all the time. there is nothing a rape case that would apply here.

all we have is a guy with an unusual amount of cash, and apparently no way to prove where he got it.
On a common drug route, and apparently acting in a manor that would draw suspicion.

as I said, there is a lot more to this than we know about.

You still don't understand the point of the metaphor.

all we have is a guy with an unusual amount of cash,

What's unusual about it? Other than the amount.

and apparently no way to prove where he got it.

The DEA called his mother who is a war vet and it was not good enough. I don't have any way to prove where the cash in my pocket came from either.

On a common drug route, and apparently acting in a manor that would draw suspicion.

Why all the assumptions? What makes you think something he did was suspicious?

as I said, there is a lot more to this than we know about.

Sounds like a good reason to suspect he was a no good street hood.

Last I checked, a person was innocent until proven guilty. He gave his reason for the money. The DEA called his mother to confirm the story. The portion of the story that stinks is the DEA.

$10,000.00 is the max that can be withdrawn from a bank without IRS notification. $16,000.00 traveling is ripe pickings for DEA agents. Especially with no documentation of source. Someone mentioned the guy was black. When has a black EVER followed the law? The agents were justified in investigating the matter. Now as far as confiscating the cash...... well what else were they to do? If a crime was in play and the cash wasn't confiscated then the agents would have been derelect in their duty.

Good for you. I just bought a car last week. It was only $12,000, but I brought cash. If the DEA took it, I wouldn't get it back.

"Officer, I'm bringing this $12,000 to Newark for a car, not drugs. Can I have my money back?"

dddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

Not to bright I see, calling a person is not verification, they have agents where she lives, she can show them where she got it.

My guess is that they already did, and foe some reason there is no follow up on the web.

They don't need a case. They have his money. It's up to him to get it back, and past history with DEA confiscation cases........ Let's just say he's not getting it back. It really doesn't matter if you have proof or not. They do as they please. They still don't have proof that marijuana has medicinal value. Still.

Hey Prog, have you ever been downtown LA? jc... Right when people step a foot off the RTD bus, gang members and hoodlums grab purses, luggage and what not. It's kinda rowdy where the Amtrack stations are. Most are right in the middle of either 18th street or Latin Kings. They wait and prey upon people to rob.

Your sentence structure doesn't make sense Prog.^^^ I think you meant "IF." I have said it over and over it wasn't his fault, but yes, regardless in LA, they will rob you. They don't stop and check luggage first. They snatch it and run..

Bottom line is "IF" he wouldn't have had that cash on him, that wouldn't have happened.

That is SO easy to understand. Sleep well k.

Prog is acting like a CT'er here.
We only have so much information, there is nothing else, but he has the answer.

It could not possibly be that this guy was nothing more than a typical musician carrying his lunch money when the big bad boys robbed him.

Unfortunately his synopsis does not fit into any real life situation.

On the contrary everything I see fits into a drug deal.

But we don't know for sure, I am sure it will come out, and there may even be arrests from it.

It's not a big deal and not worth arguing about, however, similar analogy- kind of like a kid that rides his bike down to the store, goes inside and someone steals it.

He never actually did anything, but if he would have locked it up or secured it better, he would still have it, but like I said, not worth a fight.

Edit- Especially from Detroit to LA and perhaps getting off at night, worst time and place.

If a person is doing things legal, he has no business carrying that much cash, especially in todays times with electronic banking.

We know some people just don't like, or trust banks, but as we saw from the only statement he said, he did use banks, however he apparently did not have much banking experience, kind of leading me to believe this money is a bunch of his dealer buddies sending him on a mission, with everyone putting in a few grand.
Typical drug deal.

maybe in the group he was in, but blacks travel by train a lot.

@: the OP... You must realize, now you ( us, them, we ) are living in a FED "Police State" AND... yes we are living with a Gestapo style US Government ?

DO NOT.. expect it to get better !!!

This ( search & confiscate) is also going on across America, with high-way road bock/checks/searches/confiscate, (with out any legal search warrants) If you have cash, your busted for being a drug dealer. No and or buts about it ! ( or maybe you robed some one )

The police take your money for coffee and DOG-nut.
They well never return the cash back to YOU the "drug dealer"

Your OP is nothing NEW !

You can expect this "Police State" situation to ESCALATE" over the future coming years.
This Corrupt Government and the Corrupt Banksters that own the Corrupt US Government want a cashless society in America ! All for money /people control !

Todays Socialistic REGIME is a Very dangerous and Very corrupt and has a Very DESTRUCTIVE AGENDA !

All will see how America is changing !

YES.. we are getting lots of "CHANGE" all right and you can HOPE to live though it all.

We all know that "Home Land Security" has bought Millions and Millions of rounds of bullets and thousands of AK-47 for use in America for future domestic up risings.

( IE: Unemployment, poverty, desperation, homeless, tax revolt, city and ghetto riots )

Even Dog catchers, Post office employees, etc. etc. ( state and FED Depts.) are being armed and trained / taught how to use them AK-47 and pistils too... for OUR future demise !

,

Exactly what scares me. What scares me even more is how quick people are to side with the DEA... Much like everything else, when something like this happens to one of them, watch how quickly they change their tune.

It's right wing republicans that empowered the DEA to use these tactics. "Get tough on crime". Republicans are the ones that created the whole "war on drugs" that empowers the DEA.

Oh you silly misinformed thing you.

Is that really what you believe?

Do you really believe that anything that happens has anything at all to do with titles? You can call yourself whatever you want, republican, democrat, liberal, conservative... at the end of the day, each and every politician out there serves only one master: money.

I don't remember Slick Willie ever coming out with the truth... he "didn't inhale".

So don't hand me some scripted bullshit on how it's all "republican's" fault or whatever.

Republicans: Steal from the working poor and middle class and keep the poor poor. Make the rich 'republicans' even richer.

Democrats: Steal from the working poor and middle class, keep the poor DEPENDENT. Make the rich 'democrats' even richer.

At the end of the day, there's no difference between the two. Same bird, different feathers. If you're going to play in the political sandbox, you should probably know that.

They sent the sheep out with the wolves. Sending a kid on government controlled transit, with $16,000 in cash in his posession? Why not a bank account or at least a cashier's check, not just because of the public sector thugs, but the private as well?

This goes on all the time. The police steal from people every day. It dosen't have to be a large sum of money; The police can rob you of any cash you are carrying and there is nothing you can do about it.

I didn't say politicians. I am talking about the people. Right wingnuts.

Right wing republicans are the ones that push these initiatives to "get tough on crime". The thing people don't realize is that "Get tough on crime" means "violate peoples civil rights and empower the authorites to do whatever they want". IT IS A FACT that Ronald Reagan regime began the failed "War On Drugs" that empowered the DEA to do things like this. ITS A HISTORICAL FACT.
