You're correct. Many women had other priorities over men, mostly about work. Also some women just wanted to sleep around so these men couldn't get married. When these women turned 30-35 they all of a sudden wanted to get married. However men also changed theirs because no man is going to waste time and wait for a woman that long. That's part of the reason why men don't prioritize women.
