I will be in the big "D" this summer and would like to know anything about area; where is your favorite place to have a bite to eat? My meals will be provided, but I still like to take the local cuisine. Any thing else of interest? Please tell me. I have met lots of people from Michigan when i was a kid; their parents left during the early 70's. They would tell me how great it was and i have been wanting to go since I was 9 years old.

It's the 70-story building in downtown Detroit; near waterfront. Marriot? Thanks for asking. I just figured they would make all the arrangements and all i do is show up. LOL Good question...... Idk I have to ask at the meeting on Friday. I have to print up my event schedule too. I will most likely have time in the evening after the 5:00 p.m. dinner with my team. I doubt if I will practice. I want to sight see once i'm done with my day events.

We are glad ya gave us a little notice of your arrival. Gotta get that red carpet sent out & cleaned before ya get here... damn drunks at the auto show puked all over it. Since you've been looking forward to coming here & its SUCH a long ways away for ya, we want to be able to give you a warm, friendly welcome so you feel like a 'real detroiter' right away. Therefore, we will make sure to have a couple of muggings set up during your first days here. That should 'break ya in' for the followup 'drive bys'... just remember to duck! Then, we want to give ya a ride up to flint so you may partake of our nationally recognized water...
Seriously tho, there are lots of cool things here in michigan!! How long will you be here, & will you have transportation (a car) to get out & about? If so, that can really expand your options!

As other posters have mentioned.. you need to be stick to the touristy places. It is easy to go off the beaten path and wind up in a area you don't belong.
With that said.. Belle Isle, Greek town and the historical museum is a good plan.
My ex was from Detroit.. it is a historic city, but also dangerous if you don't know where you are going.

ROFL thank you. I will look forward the the clean red carpet for my first official mugging. That is great, but not. I've been jumped, so they better be prepared for a beat down.
Haha, my brother wanted to buy a house in Flint. Glad he didn't. How is everyone doing? Nothing on the news here.
I survived the murder capital of the world. I don't know what city has that title know, but I seriously doubt I have a bullet with my name on it there....maybe here.
My team and i arrive on July 10. Our event will be held at the island. I am so looking forward to that.

Thank you. We are racing on Belle Isle, so maybe I'll go early and sight see. I love the history of old buildings so I will look for some other sights. And I know what you mean about winding up in the wrong area. I did that in Riverside and realized that we just set foot in a gang area. No, I don't know how we teenagers made it out without incident. If my mom had found out where i had been, she would have punished me.

Stay away from Cass Corridor and Delray.
Never ever go to any of the 2 mentioned
above at night. We'll be seeing you on channel
7 news if you do.
