Who's to say, its always shyness????
Just because the average man is all over a woman trying to get sex from her, or very early on.
Does that mean if a man is different and wants to wait till he senses its time mutually, or he wants to get to know her better first...its assumed he is shy or something is wrong with him?
Dude...I can answer this question from personal experiences, when I was really young, I was somewhat shy, and/or I wasn't just interested in sex only....but the thing is...I got enough sex.
Even now, and in the last ten years after my divorce, I wasn't the type to press for sex...and its funny, many times women initiated the sex, or we just fell into it mutually.
There you go...a real and honest answer based upon experiences.

Some men just need a little coaxing to know that it is okay. I think the root cause of shyness is fear of rejection. So if a guy has assurance that he won't be rejected, then I think that helps.

Surprisingly he's not shy at all...he's not as "crazy" outgoing as I can be but he can strike up a conversation with anyone...we had been friends for about a year before it went to the next level and he helped me through a lot of personal stuff...I think he was just too nervous about how I would react. BUT he IS the one that suggested that we drink and then was "kind" enough to let me stay the night so I didn't drive home  so I kinda had to make a move

Is the way it is.
Hot woman are always preferred to fatties...it is what it is.
Ugly guys should make the effort to hit a gym and put on some muscles or quit chasing hotties and go for the big girls.....and stop whining!

I don't know if women are expected to approach men like that though, so that might be apples and oranges. Personally, I don't like hurting people's feelings without just cause.
Some guys do work out, but might still be considered unattractive to women. In any case, I think it would be nice if most, if not all, women were compassionate towards the plight of men who are shy and less outgoing. It may be rooted in a deep-seated fear of rejection.
