I just took this out for a cruse around the lake.
What a joy to drive!
It had been in a barn for 25 years when
i was lucky enough to find her.

I do believe that's a Chris Craft? What a beauty! Reminds me of Sandusky Bay, Ohio, and the Lyman Boat builders up there. There's a great wooden boat club on Lake Erie - mostly Lyman's, but they would die to see that boat. My good friends and dock neighbors to my stern down here in S FL have a 68' Chris Craft Roamer and it's a beauty also.

Hey that old chris hardtop looks great. Your very lucky to have that. I've been repairing them for over 20 years but i've never had one of those come in. Keep your limber holes clean.

Hi Jim...
yea the sedan is a trip, but would like to redo the botom.
always nice to have good fasteners and with this double planked
fresh water sweety 5200 between the boards...
what do you think.
the question is how to turn it over in a tight space...
and i'm not going to chop off the roof...
let's see some more pictures on here....
what boats do you have or have you worked on...

Well first off if it was sitting in a barn for 25 years you should clean the plank seams to make sure they will swell together tight, and no caulk please. Not every boat needs a 5200 bottom maybe you could try making sure the screws arn't broke. Especialy areound the keel and transome. They also leak around the forefoot/stem area. Taking off the hardtop will hurt you more than it will hurt the boat. I usually build frames so that when you turn the boat over they don't sit on their decks.
As far as my boats I only have a small 17' Lyman and an old Garwood. I have done this profeshionaly for over 20 years and I have restored, reconstructed and repaired Lymans, Chris Crafts, Centurys, Greavetts, you name it I've done it. From 26's to 12's. I just finished a 18' Century Sabor that needed all new framing and a bottom this spring. Right now I finishing up a 17' Sportsman and a 26' Lyman Hardtop that I will be removing to redo the Teak decks.
I'd post some pictures here but I can't figure out how.

just got back from Maine...ocean boaters paridice....
in the summer
the boat needed a botom transom plank and a few fasteners on the bot.
but fasteners for the chrome molding strips on rubrails and around windows
were just about all broaken...including the cutwater.
but ther is much maintainence you all know.

No boats now, but at one time I had an 18' 1941 CC utility and a 5.5 meter sail boat that was built in 1962 in Norway, she was 31'. Nothing like a wooden boat.

Hi...i'm going to name her [Senior Moment]
and if the river isn't too silty I dock her just
upstream from Lake Seymour in VT.
I had to pay 7m for her, but she is worth twice that
...i hope.
And yes Jim a bunch of broken screws
on the bottom planks near the transom.
