Quote from ge0ge0:
I've had this theory for awhile (it's really a no brainer) that women have a different online dating site experience than most (if not all men). I'm not sure what the ratio is compared to males and females on this site but if the roles are traditional men will be the aggressors and contact the gal(s) who they are interested in. This action generates lots of e-mail for the gal(s). I've asked a few gals if they get a lot of mail and I always get back the response "Pages!". So most women are pretty busy reading mail. Now if you add a useless wink (because they are meant for non-paying site members and this is a free site) it becomes self evident why gals do not like or respond to winks.

Guys typically don't get pages and pages of e-mails so a wink isn't a bad thing and sometimes the ONLY thing in their inbox.

Am I off the mark?

You're probably on the mark for the most part, however, I get a hell of a lot of e-mail and prior to turning off the winks I'd get a shit-load of those too. I just think the wink is a bit childish and lacks any effort at all. If you want to talk to me then type a few lines, what the hell do you have to lose? Before I blocked the winks I'd get a wink, so to be kind I'd wink back, then they'd rewink and it's like a f**king staring contest - who will blink first?

I will always respond to an e-mail if I'm interested or not, or if I was available or not. That is common courtesy.

a wink is just that....a wink. Its like if we're out somewhere and you wink at me, I'll ignore you just as quick. If you dont have the balls to come up to me and say something, then I wont sweat you. Same thing here.

I have a hard time taking women seriously when they say they don't like winks either when most of these women sit on their hands and won't even consider e-mailing or approaching a guy first, instead always expecting the guy to do most of the work. For as much as women say they want to be in an amazing relationship, a lot of them sure are lazy when it comes to doing anything about it.

I figure you wink, I wink back, you write OR I wink, you wink back, I write. It's just a way to see if the other person is interested and doesn't hurt anything. If I read a profile, and he asks for no winks, then I either write if I want or move on.

Ge0ge0, I have never gotten pages of anything in my inbox. Hot women maybe, but not us normal gals.

It would make me a little nervous about someone if they are freaking out about online winks. There are more important things in life.

those my friend arent women.........they are girls playing childish games. A real woman has no problem emailing first. IF we waited around on men to email us with a smart comment first, then we would be waiting awhile.

I dont mind the wink. I figure if someone winks at me...its telling me they want me to check out their profile. I would either wink back...or send an email.

I think winking's fine for women because it can be a safe way for her to feel a man out. Also it gives her that "shy" quality a lot of men find attractive. I have no problem at all with getting winks. If I'm interested I'll e-mail her back and go from there.

Men should write something though. Winking for us sends the message you're not confident, and you won't stand out from all of the other guys who are winking.

I'm tired of all the unmeaningful winks. At first I allowed them, but especially after posting in forums, I blocked them. I'm recieving winks from all over the world.

Hello?!?! I live in INDIANA...if you don't live within 150miles of me, most likely you will be blocked. k.thanx.

i think the winks are cute but they can get a tad annoying, especially if you get a bunch of them from the same person or even just different people and they dont say anything to back why they sent one. I send winks just one, if i think theyre cute ya know but i dont do it everyday just be lazy and hope they message me back.
